Defensive Help
Can someone offer some tips/strategy on defense? This is my first year with this game. When i am playing online, it seems the users that i am playing against can pressure the crap out of my guy and its hard to maintain possession. Also when i go to pass, they always block it, etc.

Re: Defensive Help
I use Hold Up Play (the A button on Xbox) to track the player from a distance, and than RB to close down and get the ball. Throw in teammate pressure (X) if your opponent is isolated and surround by a couple of defenders.
However, I have to say, it's extremely hard in general to defend online opponents who use full assist passing and have better players overall. They're never going to make bad passes, so you're pretty much forced to put intense pressure on them constantly. Thankfully CPU teammate defenders are pretty effective at deflecting passes and creating loose balls.
I get the feeling I'm not going to be going as nuts with MLO as I thought I was this year. The pace and the style of the game just isn't for me. -

Re: Defensive Help
there is a lot of different ways to play defense in this game... but one thing I tend to do most of the time is once my opponent gets past the half line and closer to my goal.. I switch to one of my CBs and take control of him basically and pressure the ball with my CPU AI defender while controlling the CB guarding against the thru ball that a lot of people try to do online. this works well for meComment

So if i press 'X', this forces my closest cpu defender to pressure the ball? That might be usefull bc then i can play as another defender like you mentioned abovethere is a lot of different ways to play defense in this game... but one thing I tend to do most of the time is once my opponent gets past the half line and closer to my goal.. Re: Defensive Help
no X is only applied to the defender your currently controlling... what you would want to do is press [ ] or O depending on your control setup for a second defender to pressure. default controls it's squareSo if i press 'X', this forces my closest cpu defender to pressure the ball? this is what what I do... I will switch back in forth but I usually will flip the Right Analog stick to get back to one of my CBs I want and position him at the very least... or just stay on him and force your teammate to pressure.Comment

Re: Defensive Help
It depends on the system.
X on the 360 is CPU pressure. Holding A is to track or hold up with your player and you use the stick to control how much distance you want to maintain. While you are tracking someone, you can hit the dash button and your player will rush in and pressure the ball.
I am not sure if someone beats you. I don't think there is a clear 'grab shirt' or jostle button like in FIFA. It seems a lot of the jostling is based on player ratings which is cool.Comment
