    Considering making the switch...

Hey everyone , I was wondering if a few guys who have been playing PES for awhile could answer some questions I have as I am thinking about making a switch over to PES from Fifa this year. I understand the game of soccer fairly well ,but not as well as some of you. Look foward to hearing some feedback and I appreciate all and any opinions.
sidenote : I typically use Bayern Munich , BVB , or Germany. Occasionally ill use Everton , or another team.

    1) How is the offensive and defensive AI in the game?

    2) How are the players online? - Most of the time in Fifa , I get some guy just doing his best to either turbo all over the field or they make one huge pass up field and try to go 1 on 4. I understand some uptempo stuff now and then and countering but I also would like to see some build up play... I understand Its a mixed batch but for the most part , how are the H2H matches and connections.

    3) Not really a question but , in Fifa , it seems to many times I can do a knock on or be in a dead sprint and the defender can be backpedaling and some how turn around from backpedaling and still manage to catch the fastest guy on my team.

    4) How is the single player vs cpu game?

Thanks again for any and all opinions. I look foward to reading these and hopefully trading in FIFA very soon.lol. It has driven me to frustration.

    Re: Considering making the switch...

I made the switch for offline play, and I'm glad I did.

I like how players in FIFA make runs. That's done well.

When it comes to other aspects of the game, especially defensive AI, PES is much better.

FIFA's defensive AI along the back line was driving me crazy. I finally traded it in after I realized that 90% of the time I was playing the game, I was angry.

I finally did the same with Madden 13 and for the exact same reason!

Thanks for the feedback man. I feel like even when I am winning , I am getting angry at the game.lol. Little things that I know are wrong are frustrating me. How are the skill moves in PES? I struggled mastering them in the demo with no real practice gym or anything.

Same here. Only reason I really have FIFA is I enjoy the Ultimate Team. I found the game to be more playable if you're using Bronze and Silver teams against others of the same level.

            Re: Considering making the switch...

Both games do certain things well, but AI is the big thing that brings me back to PES. The offensive AI in Fifa has a few really good points, like making intelligent runs, but the defensive AI is horrible. It makes the offline game really frustrating. The AI in PES has quirks, but they are not the consistent quirks in the other game.

For the record, my favorite game mode is be a legend (or career mode with just myself as a player in Fifa), so the AI is huge for me. PES overall is very good in this mode.

Although, to be fair I split time between games this year. Both have great things to offer while both also have frustrating moments.

I don't play online at all so I can't comment on that.

You won't really find that physics-defying perfect/precise tackling from the CPU in PES. Player movement is pretty realistic. If a player is faster and has space, he'll get in. You'll also see fouls, for a change. I love FIFA, but the impact engine BS is so frustrating.

Some really good posts in here. I had FIFA 12 last year and still play the Vita version, but have to admit, all the games tend to play out the same way.

I'm ready to ditch Madden for soccer, and may give this game a go.

The only reason I play FIFA is the graphics and licenses, time and again the game just frustrates the hell out of me. I really enjoyed the PES demos much more than FIFA but for whatever reason I didn't buy it, maybe I still will but there are so many other games coming out.

I believe PES 2014 is meant to be using the new FOX engine? If so hopefully the game finally looks on par with FIFA if not better.

Yeah I'm done with Madden as well, it was also a waste of money. Hopefully I don't lose too much money with a trade-in.

Keroseen and Dubcity... Thank you for the great posts.... Now I have to take fifa back and pick up PES. Sounds like I waited to long...My only complaint as of right now is it sounds like I paid 60$ for the wrong game. Thank you for all the imput.

If anyone wants to give advice on the skill moves that would be great! Still cant really get them down in the demo. Struggling.

Yeah, I was resistant to paying $60 for FIFA and then having to pay another $30 to trade it in for PES.

                        Still, I'm glad I did.

As for the skill moves, it really comes down to playing enough so that you know when to use different moves.

I like FIFA's skill stick and how that game captures the one-on-one battles.

In PES, sometimes it feels like more of a chess match mixed with some randomness. Different moves will be more effective depending on the situation, spacing, and the players involved.

For me, the biggest ingredient to improving was time.

I'm about to trade in FIFA as well. Just have really had no fun playing it. The only difference you feel between players seems to be pace. I use Everton on World Class settings, manager mode and Fellaini gets bullied and knocked out because of the stupid physics. Thank God I ended up getting the game for only 35 bucks thanks to the 2 for 70 deal at Toys R Us.

Yes, it will be using the Fox Engine.Pc will get the full Fox features but idk what Konami will do with the console versions because Fox is heavier in every aspect and requires better hardware. We'll wait for official responses about that though.
Imo PES 13 graphics are better than Fifa 13.It feels more natural surely.

There are some things I like about PES, the match atmosphere is better but PES players just look a little chunky or something, plus the player faces are hideous.
