I wouldn't be against getting the newest version if it is indeed the best, but if I can save money and get a good feel for the series by buying a used copy of 11-13, I'd prefer to go that route.

Looking to try PES ... which one to get?
I am admittedly a casual fan of soccer. I have FIFA Soccer for the Vita, which I play quite frequently, and also own FIFA 13 for the 360. I've heard good things about PES for the offline gamer (me), so was curious which game on the 360/PS3 would be a good starting point for me?

Re: Looking to try PES ... which one to get?
I asked the same thing in a thread below about a week ago and it appears this forum is dead...I would guess u should go with 13 since it is only $8.99 on gamefly last time I checked. I enjoyed 12...13 looks like dog scraps compared to 14, but 14 stripped a bunch of features to make way for the new engine. Compare the demos for 13 & 14 to see which gameplay u prefer. No easy answer here I guess because the series has worn thin and failed to globally improve year to year.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

I'd go with 13 if you want to see the "current" PES, because 14 is just bad.
Also if you have time, try PES 6 if you want to try truly the best gameplay, even though it's very outdated graphics and license wise.Khalabeeb - Tony Henderson

If you're a casual fan I'd suggest FIFA. Much easier to play out of the box and you don't have to fool with option files (to replace licenses) and major edits.
Also, online play is much more stable.
And this is coming from someone who played PES '10-'14 a lot.Comment
