Did the patch help cpu defending at all?

Cpu defense in the demo was really bad, i could run the whole field with the goalkeeper on superstar. From reading the forums it seems that the defending didn't change in the full game. Did the gameplay tweaks that came with data pack 1 change anything? I'm trying to decide whether to buy eventually or not.

In my own opinion it got MUCH better. Before I edited every player on defense to The Destroyer playing skill so they would actually step up (like you I could run through the whole team and score). After the patch that is not necessary. They are still not perfect but much much better. They actually track back too.

Yeah I've noticed that too. Both my defenders and the CPU defenders seem more aggressive and don't back off as much

Yes, for sure. Gameplay is still pretty wide open, but it's better than it was.

Thanks man, might get it now. That was the only issue that was holding me back from getting it this year. I got FIFA which i actually think this year is a pretty balanced game against the cpu and user, a pretty good soccer sim,but i have always found PES gameplay to be a lot more fun, espeially when playing the cpu. Also the Master League actually looks decent this year as well.

Are you playing with fluid formations on? I am going to post some gameplay video's because I find it is opposite of wide open. So hard to get through the middle of the field. Also just posting some keeper video's to show how to improve the. Change keepers to 99 defensive prowess and 99 goalkeeping ability (nothing else because I still want them to play like themselves, too many people are boosting all their stats which just makes them all the same). Had some good results.
