Don't you guys think that the referee is somehow too harsh? I got red carded for very soft fouls and I also notice that they hardly talk to players giving a warning. Typically is always either yellow or red card after the first one (which is typically discounted).

What I feel is going on, and why some of us may be having different experiences with the demo, the game is following your lead.
If you come out and push forward and play quick the CPU will do likewise. If you play patient the cpu will calm down on both O and D.
Rarely IRL do you see one team going nuts while the other team plays slow. It's human nature to mimic.
This gives each match a proper rhythm in my opinion. If I push up quick and make a hole behind me and turn the ball over, the cpu looks to counter and hit back quick. But if I am slow and everyone behind me keeps shape then once I lose the ball the CPU is much more apt to just play up slow as well.
One other thing is I have been spending a lot of time in the demo ridding myself of some fifa habits. The AI toe poke is so lethal in FIFA that I always pass before they are near me. PES behaves differently and you can almost welcome contact at times.
This fifa habit was causing me to never get fouled by the AI. Once I realized letting the defender hang around me wasn't automatically giving up possession I have been drawing more fouls.
Is the demo perfect? Hell no. But as far as playing AI in a futbol game goes it's the best I have ever seen. It's the sheer amount of believable non-cheaty but amazing things the CPU does that is incredible, coupled with pulling off wonderful looking things myself.
Big fan of how the game auto curves balls for you. Say you have a simple 20m cross field pass but the defender is stepping up slightly, instead of going from point A directly to point B, the player will sensibly put a small amount of spin on the ball to curve it properly to the target. It's a small thing but it looks so good. You forget about it after awhile because it's what should happen. I went back to FIFA 16 today and boy did I miss that simple thing.
Great points in there!

BL8001 last post is on point. I think once we get to mess with all the tactics and play at longer halves, much of these issues will fix themselves or at least give us options to fix them thru tactics/sliders Etc. Great point on the toe poke as well. I have been able to draw more fouls with that mindset and it is nice to finally take on players with some risk or reward than just being dispossessed each time like in FIFA. I have finally made my mind up and will make the jump back to PES this year as I just am having too much fun with this and do not expect the gameplay to change dramatically in FIFA this year.Comment

To me, this is the reason sometimes you see a more back and forth game (also tactics of course).
Also, this sentence really is my feeling to this game in a nutshell:
"Is the demo perfect? Hell no. But as far as playing AI in a futbol game goes it's the best I have ever seen. It's the sheer amount of believable non-cheaty but amazing things the CPU does that is incredible, coupled with pulling off wonderful looking things myself."

And that video right there is why I keep coming back to this demo and putting more time into it than Madden 17! And to top it all off...if you notice at the end of that video...Howedes (#4) even bends down at his knees for a breather...The presentation in PES is sublime this year!Comment

That video highlights one of the problems I have with the keepers. It doesn't happen all the time but I feel there are quite a few instances where they parry it and push it right back to the attacking player. I would love to see them push it further wide of the post and away from danger.Comment

I was just thinking to myself..."I haven't seen any injuries yet" but then I chopped down Neymar and he went off to undergo treatment. The bad thing is I button mashed to try to get to my tactics and I might have missed any cut scenes that were included.
Anyone seen injuries?Comment

Re: PES 2017 Demo Available on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 - Post Your Impressions
I'll be again very harsh with the game. This is not an accurate representation of the sport of football.
- No AI build up at all.
- End-to-end football, it's like watching 10yrs old children playing in the park.
- Fouls are improved but still refs are way too inconsistent.
- GKs animations are still a joke. In many occasions their diving animation is too slow.
- Back and forth runs by players are ridiculous. It's like watching some cartoon where someone suddenly accelerates and disappears in a second.
- AI doesn't go with the obvious/logical passing decisions on the offensive end.Last edited by Josam27o7; 08-26-2016, 04:43 PM.Comment

once you start the match pause and go to settings or options whatever it is and then go to match settings.
You can also turn on cpu name tags.resident curmudgeonComment

Yea I tackled Neymar on the edge of the box with an ugly tackle with Per last night and only got a yellow when I probably should have been walking to the showers.
But to be fair, PES has always been pretty unpredictable when it comes to discipline following tackles.Last edited by elprez98; 08-26-2016, 04:17 PM.Originally posted by My Wife"The Celtics only won because they have a magical elf playing for their team...."Comment

Crushed Iniesta with Ramsey and he went to the sidelines for treatment. That's the only one I've seen. I've probably played about 10-15 games.

Re: PES 2017 Demo Available on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 - Post Your Impressions
I guess I should post some impressions.
1. As I mentioned earlier in the thread I still think the keepers push too many shots straight back to the attacking player. They need to push it further out wide out of danger.
2. The refs are better but there have been times when I thought a foul should have been given and it was not but it is better than last year when hardly anything was called.
3. The gameplay is much better than last year and I think there is a good balance between offense and defense.
4. There are alot of options that we can't get to as far as tactics are concerned and once we can I think that will open up even even better gameplay. Right now if you turn on fluid formations you can't even change the formations.
5. It seems like they have finally gone back to their roots and focused on the gameplay which is why so many people liked it before.Comment
