Malicia Skill Card - How?

So, the malicia skill card. Do I have to dive to use it, or do my players just go down if they are under pressure?
Or is it even a case of them being able to nick the ball away from an opponent as he attempts a tackle. Cause I still have no idea how or if it even works

It think this was introduced last year but it does make players win fouls easier with it.
