Work around for FB's not tracking back/defending properly

I think this helps the game significantly. Much more resistance on the flanks now. Yes, you can use other combinations to enhance it further, but this is the "base" I would suggest to start from.

    Before:

    After:

      @Matt10

Aren't you mainly sticking with FIFA this year? I wasn't enjoying PES 2018 and I wish you posted stuff like this before I requested my refund from Steam...

This works well Matt but have you been able to find a way to keep CB's from sprinting away from attackers? Personally I can't find anything and its almost gamebreaking to me and even more noticeable with so many teams using 3 man backline now. Was is it this bad in Pes 17?

Agree 100%. I can't figure this one out as well. They simply mark and run away at times.

Try this one out as the base guys, let me know your thoughts:

I think PES starts with way too much space from the get go. So I reduced it to the "limits" of their player roles. Basically Edit the lineup/position to the point the player role changes, but still maintaining the base positioning.

I can appreciate that there is a little more defense before the box now, in the last third, but it seems like they all retreat out of the midfield space still, right? There's still no major skill necessary to move the ball through the midfielders because they've retreated their entire formation backwards.

I'm no expert, so this is just my opinion after watching the video. Your thoughts?

                  It's probably the attack/defense levels.

Here this example I made some adjustments for a proper championship match:

It is the defence levels, you notice it more with teams that go from orange/blue as you have teams going from one extreme to another in attack in defence.

I did like the post Royce, but my OS interface isn't jiving tonight

Also, working on the long ball spam...think it's getting there...check it out:

I plugged these in for a match tonight before trying the FIFA trial, and I have to say you've got a great start here Matt. I played as Leipzig vs. Dortmund on Top Player and it was by far the best game I've played thus far on the game. Actually I could barely play a game at all before this so I'd been playing online. I had trouble sprinting with the ball and stringing passes together which was nice because it will force myself to be creative. Something that didn't feel needed before these adjustments. Well done! As always I look forward to your FIFA sliders and also adjustments you make with this game.

Who's going to be the brave soul that goes into every team and does this for an of?

great work as always Matt, been following your work for a while now both on PES and FIFA.

I'll definitely be giving these a go. One question though, did you make any other tweaks to limit the computer long ball / through ball spamming or is that video a result of the previous tweaks you made? (deeper/congested formations and FB tracking)

                            Cheers bud

Thanks for giving them a go. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. That was the goal, man, just trying to get this game playable offline. Good point about having to string passes and less sprinting. I mean how often do you see teams IRL dribbling as much as they do in PES? Unheard of.
