Okay, friends, can someone help me out as I've been out of the PES loop for a few years.

I have an option file installed—when the new data pack installs do I check or uncheck the two boxes for squad data and national team data?

Don't want to mess things up.

Don't want to mess things up.

I left them unchecked because I don't want it to mess up my formation and player edits. The updated will add new players like reserves called up to first team but when you leave them unchecked they get added straight to the Free Agent Pool.

Defence is trash after and they say its fixed...played three games and gave 4 goals because AI defenders dont React to ball

From the single match I played this morning, the cpu players seemed more ball aware but ai teammates didn't. It's a very small sample size though.

I only got in a few matches but the loose ball situation seemed better to me.  I had also seen some videos of people complaining about the game feeling less responsive, which I did not notice on Superstar level.

Overall it's a nice patch, just wish I could play PES without my PS4 sounding like a jet engine.  Anyone know what it is about this game that's so difficult for the console?

Same here, every time I start up a match it's like my wife is in the next room vacuuming.

I've taken to leaving a fan blowing directly on the PS4, which seems to help.

My PS4 is loud af whenever I use a physical copy. PES and FIFA digital versions are quiet

I have a Pro and it's quiet even with the most intensive graphical games but for this game I can hear the fan sometimes which isn't bad.

Noticed it only after I installed the option file.

I have the PES Universe v2 installed and I applied the data pack and it did not appear to affect anything, HOWEVER, I started a new ML immediately after.

It might not be properly optimized. On PC version with my 1440p 144Hz monitor, it struggles to get past 125fps when I set it to 144fps and stutters a crap ton. I ended up setting it to half-refresh (72fps) and it's smooth now.

KG, I've got PES digitally on PS4 Pro and the fan runs constantly, with or without an option file installed.  FIFA is a church mouse, as is pretty much every other game I own, but PES and NBA 2k are noticeably loud for whatever reason.  No offense, but I find it hard to believe it runs any differently on your console than mine, we may just have a different definition of "quiet".
As for the patch, it's a bit underwhelming after getting more time in.  Certainly an improvement overall, but I wouldn't say it's a game changer.  If they want my attention, make the finesse dribble significantly smoother and get rid of the one button defending altogether.  Both are frustrating, but the latter is pretty much a game breaker for me as far as playing against a human opponent.  CPU could still use more creativity and aggression with the dribble as well, although for the most part I find games against the AI to be enjoyable.
