PES 2022: What to Expect From the Unreal Engine (Part One)

PES 2022 will be on the Unreal Engine, but it's hard to believe Konami's Fox Engine...

    Excellent article.

I know some are skeptical because of the previous engine switch (I wasn't around for that) so I'm not as worried. I think taking a year off will make a big difference. There will still be hiccups but probably not as many as if they had put out a full 2021 game.

While companies probably wouldn't be sharing secrets if you have a friend at another company unless it's a proprietary secret you could probably pick their brain for ideas or best practices. Also its probably easier to bring in help with an engine that is universal as opposed to having to start training them from scratch to help fix a problem.

Even just having better player models and collision detection would be a massive step forward. I'm horrified everytime a player opens their giant tooth filled mouth currently. Looks so unnatural.

Still really excited for the possibilities of a new engine. Only a few more months!

One of the best articles out here not only about PES but also about what the Unreal Engine can bring to games. Well done KG.

This article is actually precious, thank you!
I guess that we could approximatively say the same thing about every game that is migrating from a closed engine to the more open and widely used one.

The only thing that prevents me from getting hyped is that, whereas everything you said is true, UE is finally just a tool.
It has to be in good hands in order to deliver the things that can be expected from your article.
That's why I really hope that they started working on the switch of engine since PES2018 or even longer, it takes time to master these tools..
One can hope! But in any case I'll give it a try.
