Yes and no.
After I turned on the position guide (the blue arrow) it got easier. The arrow points to where you should be on the pitch and appears/disappears based on if you're in the correct "zone". Occasionally I forget I'm player locked and start to drift off course but that happens less and less as I use the camera more.
The VR team has been pretty silent since the update a week after a release. I know there is an ultimate master league update coming in February after the window closes so at least there's that.

So after a month with the Gentleman's Gameplay mod by itself I pulled the trigger on Kidman's Passmaps today and I was immediately blown away. The GP mod is amazing on its own but the tactics are well worth the £6 (8-ish $) It's hard to put into words the difference it makes.

Interesting to hear. I’ve been using the Gentleman’s gameplay mod for a few weeks on FUMA. I was on top player and tbh after a few days I wasn’t really loving it. I looked at the evoweb page again and it says the script is nerfed on superstar difficulty. Moved up to superstar for the last week and today I uninstalled the gameplay mod as I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t like it. Haven’t ventured into the passmaps, I assume those can be applied for any gameplay mod or vanilla gameplay. For now I’m going to give Liberty Gameplay 4.0 a go on PA1 with manual shooting.

I can't speak to TP or SS difficulties as even though that's what's recommended I played on Pro as I think even vanilla PES is at its best at that level.
What didn't you like about gentleman's gameplay?

My main problem is simple, I’m not good enough to play FUMA on superstar level which it is designed for in order to get the full benefit of the mod. Playing on a different level or not playing on FUMA which the mod is designed for just eats away at my OCD about this. If I can’t play using the exact conditions required, then it doesn’t sit right with me. That’s just me, some would say it’s over the top, some will understand.

This one has been my favourite so far. The team spirit is equal between Human and CPU in Master League along with other gameplay tweaks.
Edit: I’ve just remembered this mod is an .exe only, I also used a dt.18 file from Liberty with it.

I went back to the mod in my previous post and combined it with Liberty 4.0 dt18 file and also went back to professional level on FUMA. I have to say I’m agreeing with you regards the game feeling better on Pro. I initially tried on Top Player and then went to Pro, and although some would say it will obviously feel easier or better because of the drop in difficulty, I actually feel the gameplay runs smoother. I still lost games but lost them ‘fairly’ as opposed to scripted bs. Again, some will argue that there’s no bs I’m just [emoji90] at the higher levels but there is always a level of bs in any game. Even Matt10 put a PES video up saying FUMA on regular difficulty felt natural to him. I’m going to continue with this combo in a tester ML with Fiorentina until the V2 of UML comes out in February, then it will be a full on ML with a team tbd.
Regarding the passmaps, how does that work? Do they send you a zip file to extract once your payment is received? How easy is it to import, do you need a special importer module? I’m intrigued about getting them but I already feel like I’m treading on thin ice with modding a game on PC due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. Spooneys looks good but his method for importing looks cumbersome and I just know I’d end up with a pile of [emoji90]! [emoji23]

Glad you found something that works for you.
In regards to the pass maps he'll send you a link to the folder with everything you need which also includes a tutorial on how to install it. It took me maybe 5 minutes to prep the files and i was up and running. It's pretty straightforward as long as you follow along. Not as convoluted as installing a mod.

Guys, I have a few questions for those on pc and familiar with patches, mods etc.
I upgraded Virtuared V3 to V4 but the patch part only, not the stadiums as I already had them in V3. I did the fix and the edit file save too.
If I want to add V4 stadiums now, is it simply unzipping the RAR file and overwriting or would I need to run the fix again and re-save the edit file from V4?
The reason I ask is, now V4.1 is out I want to upgrade everything to that, including stadiums.
The initial reason I didn’t run the stadium update on V4 was because I’d read many people had issues with white pitches etc and I already had issues in V3 where, from certain camera angles, the far view of the pitch would be black. It didn’t affect playing the game but it’s just annoying and it wasn’t every stadium. I’ve set my anisotropic filtering to 16x but that didn’t cure the black patches.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ended up having to do a clean install. For some reason the edit file just wouldnt take or maybe is something got corrupted. Anyway all good now. The Premiere League at least finally seems to be correct
