I didn't even get through the 2nd friendly and I was already sick of MLS and their crazy system, so I started a new one and chose Everton, who have entrusted me with $0 in transfer money.

Well, at least your reputation is high, so you can poach youth players from other teams and train them at your club.
Meanwhile, my Sampdoria board just agreed to improve my junior coaching again up to 'exceptional' from 'excellent', so I'm hoping to be swimming in prospects in the years to come.
Finished another season. For the 3rd year in a row, we finished 5th. This time we were so, so close to the elusive 3rd spot. 2 more points would have done it. Inter won the league on the last day with a late goal or else Atalanta would have won the league! We beat Inter twice by a combined score of 7-0!!Last edited by ImTellinTim; 08-18-2012, 02:06 PM.Comment

Nevermind. This is the first time I've seen this option and I check almost once a week.

I'll put it this way. Their highest valued player is Sebastian Coates at $6.5 million.
They made it to the group stage of the CL last year and got blown out. 0 points and a negative GD in the teens.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Anyway, I started a game a couple weeks ago with Unione Venezia, who at the time were in Italian Serie D, the fifth level. Thought that since Venice is such a great city, it deserved to have a club higher up in the Italian leagues! We handily won our group and were promoted to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione for this season. Also, I'm a huge fan of their colors:
Been really fun so far, never played in Italy, let alone this deep down the pyramid! For tactics, I'm using something really fun that's modeled after what Bielsa did with Bilbao this season. It's essentially a 3-4-3 against teams who play two strikers, and a 4-3-3 against teams with only one striker. Man marking, of course. The key is basically to always have an extra centerback who can mark zonally.
Been really fun so far, to be honest. I'd love to get this team promoted all the way up to Serie A, but I want to be realistic too, so if I get a job offer I'd have to seriously consider it.
Let me know if you guys are interested to see some screens or whatnot!Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Mario Balotelli is out of contract late into July, and I could have him on a $130k/week contract + incentives. Was really close to signing him, but I have a 19-year-old Turkish regen that I signed last season who is better than him in key poacher attributes. No need to bring in that whiner when I have the kid and Borini in the fold.
Here's the kid - signed him in January last season for $8 million from Besiktas. He scored 7 goals in 13 league appearances.
