I've done it in every Liverpool save I've done in past FMs at some point. It usually doesn't hurt morale too much. Heck, he doesn't even have close to the highest influence attribute on my squad. It was purely ceremonial as he sat the bench injured for half of Season 2.

It might make a difference with your background as well, as a Sunday League Player, who just got to the club and stripped a 4 year captain of his captaincy, it didn't really sit well with many guys in the clubhouse.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
But seriously, I've turned a profit both years by shedding the ridiculous wages of some of the players. Klaas is costing me only 30k more per week than Carroll...
Cole and Downing were both on outrageous contracts for their skill level. I can't believe Spurs paid me that much for Borini. That was a nice surprise.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 01-25-2013, 06:35 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yawn. Parking the bus and destroying the First Division. Allowed only 2 goals in 10 games, and had a draw(after going a man down) against AB. Just gotta sleepwalk through this year(Viborg has the talent to win the first division, it's just in-game, Ove Christiansen never seems to utilize the right mixture of players, and ends up sacked after a mid/lower table finish). The Danish Cup draw has been ultra-easy to me(two Series 3 teams, now a Second Division team).
Next year will be interesting. I normally have no issue finishing midtable in Superliga with Viborg players, but I want to bring in some mid-tier talent, and start building a powerhouse to eventually challenged Kobenhavn's place in the UCL. I've got some great youth that will be ready next year, so I'm gonna sell high in January on a few players, see if I can't upgrade facilities with the money gained.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finally beat Leeds 1-0 in a well played match.
Also beat last placed Swindon 3-0. My 15 yr old winger made a brilliant (albeit overly agressive) tackle followed by an amazing assist on the 60th minute in his league debut. So proud
Signed a veteran defender to help keep everybody fresh, but he only speaks italian. :/
So i went and signed another DL/WB(L)/M(L) that speaks english and italian for only $5k and $600/wk he was transfer listed and 31 yrs old
Hopefully, they help each other blend in to this squad and maybe in two or three years we can make it to the EPLLast edited by jmaj315; 01-28-2013, 09:47 PM.I used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
$*&( I parked the bus as to not show off my players, yet here we are, I have managers from across Europe attending my games to see my players play. I wanted to sell them the January after promotion, not the January BEFORE promotion
SIGH. I'll survive, just blergh.Support Local Sports

Phew. That's against a Superliga team. A nice reminder that while winning the First Division is cake, winning the Superliga is a whole different story. Thankfully we beat Randers(a heated rival at that!), and moved on in the DAC!
Edit for my favorite Press Conference answer:

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Won Ligue 1 with 74 points. Scored a lot of goals. Our attendance was terrible though, only 69% attendance so I lost money on a monthly bases. Montepellier who won the league both seasons in my save finished 7th and they didn't lose anyone in the transfer market. They lost in the final of Coupe de France
Spoiler
Yohan Mallo won the Ligue 1 player of the year. Led the league in assist for 3rd straight year with 22 assists. I thought he was runner up for Ligue 1 player of the year the past 2 years, but that was for some other award. One problem though, his contract is up next year and he wants 100k+ a week. I can't afford him, so I'm looking to sell him this summer.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Hey guys, can someone help me please…
I was loving FM until I got this feeling that ruins my experience:
That the match is being played back to me and that a scoreline has been predicted based on the tactics I’ve chosen. This makes me really lose touch with FM, it no longer feels like Im the manager and Im watching my players play in a certain way. It feel like the match has already been played and its playing back the predictions I make so Im fighting against a potential scoreline.
(A bit like if you record a really important match on tv like a champions league final, and don’t know the score. And you try to watch it, and its harder to focus because you know that the score is already out there)
I know the score isn’t fixed and that I can change it, but the fact that If I do nothing, then the calculated score will come true. And the fact that its calculated before the match has even been played - is bugging me!!
And why am I even focused on this? Well because the highlight bar at the bottom, starts to turn a different colour whenever a highlight is about to start. My defenders might be playing short passes deep inside their own half, yet I know it might turn into a chance just because the stupid bar turns a different colour before a chance has even happened…Couldn’t they just turn the colour changes off to make the match experience more realistic. Because that’s what the FM experience depends on – making it seem realistic, like you’re the manager, and your managing your own team…
Thanks for any help, advice and feedback. I just wanna enjoy the exp again.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
In my current Millwall save, we had a pretty impressive run.
2019/20 we finished 3rd to qualify for the Champions Cup and the multitude of cash that goes with it. Won the FA Cup 4-0 over Birmingham.
25W 3D 10L 71G 33GA +38 78pts.
2020/21 was a nail biter over the last month. With 4 games to play (we sat in 3rd) we decided to play like sh*t. Lost 3 in a row and with 1 game left we sat in 6th, Liverpool 5th, Spurs 4th, City 3rd and 2pts seperating us. We beat Villa 2-0, Liverpool lost to Huddersfield 3-1, Spurs lost to West Brom 0-1, and City drew against Ipswitch 1-1. City 3rd, Millwall 4th, Spurs 5th, and Liverpool 6th. So we stayed in the Champions Cup. City beat me on GD.
We lost to Arsenal 2-1 in the Community Shield, beat Liverpool 3-1 for the FA Cup. We've done really well in the FA winning it 5 times in my career.
I also, really, really, really, hate Stoke! They are my Huckleberry!
Champions Cup-Group F with Oly Lyon, CSKA, and FC Kobenhavn. Our first game we lost 3-1 to OL, so I'm thinking this could be a quick run. To my surprise we didn't lose another game. Beat CSKA 3-0 & 3-0, FC Ko 2-0 & 1-0, and OL 3-0 to win the group. In the KO round we played Vitesse away 2-2 and home 4-1 for an agg of 6-2. In the qtr we played At. Madrid away 3-2 and home 4-1 for an agg of 6-4. In the Semi we played PSG home 1-0 and away 1-4 for an agg of 2-4 and the dream was over.
PSG beat Man U 2-1 in the final.
Overall, a great season. Souleymane Coulibaly (ST) won the Champions Golden Boot by scoring 10 goals.
We played a 4-3-3 with Coulibaly-ST, Sterling-W, Chamberlain-W, Jesper Larsen-CM/AP, Joan Angel Roman-CM, Ryan Bennett-DM, Fernando Jose-WB, Riccardo Ferreira-CB, Liu Guojiang-CB, Neofytos Saitiotis-FB, Jake Kean-G. Subs/Rotation: Stephen El Shaarawy-W/ST, Johan Ferreira-W, Jonjo Shelvy-CM, Dady Kagabo-DM, Joe Bennett-FB, Grant Hanley-CB, Philippe David-G.
Goal Ldrs: Coulibaly-24, Roman-11, J.Ferreira-10
Ast Ldrs: Sterling-13, Larsen-11, Shaarawy-11
Rating: Coulibaly-7.34, Larsen-7.34, Sterling-7.22Last edited by jesmith29; 01-30-2013, 02:35 AM.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment
