Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished 8th in nPower 2 in 2012/13, one spot out of playoffs because of goal differential.
Higher finish than anybody expected, hopefully we get a ton of extra money to make a promotion push next year.
We have some good young players, but their potential isnt quite good enough for nPower 1. We'll see what happens.
Do goals in the playoffs count toward your goal total? because Darryl Duffy and Cheltenman are in the playoffs and i dont want him to pass Jack Midson in goals or ratingI used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I always find consolidating a lot easier to handle than going up too soon, though it's a very fine line between the two. I imagine it is just personal preference but your reputation should get higher, thus enabling you to strengthen with top League 2 players instead of scrambling for signings to stay in League 1. That's what it used to be like when I managed Leeds and got promoted the first season to the Premiership.
And sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they do count.
ahh oh well..
Yea i know going up too soon is tough, but what do you mean by consolidate?I used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
It basically just means to strengthen your position in League 2. If you went straight up you might have to overhaul the squad to keep up with the League 1 pace. Personally, I end up making a couple of panic signings if I go up too soon.Comment

Finished 3rd in La Liga, tried to get Llorente back but I couldn't pay his wages.
I spent about a week as Denmark's head coach, I applied for England and they hired me. I think Denmark was paying me about 2.2K per week, with England I get 50K per week lol.Comment

After a long break, I resumed my Palace save.
Lost to those damn Scousers in the league cup.
Somehow overcame Messi and Neymar to defeat Barca, but then lost to Arsenal on aways games in the Semis of the UCL.
So all that was left was the league
Going into the final league game, tied on points, way off on GD

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
As usual with soccer games, I find myself focusing way too much on offense rather than defense. I bought a young Austrian striker and loaned him out before the season started to try and develop him, and now I have agreed to terms with AZ to purchase Adam Maher in the January window, a young midfielder from Holland who has 4 star potential.
However, my defense is ravaged with injuries at the moment. Caulker, Naughton, Assou-Ekotto, and now Dawson are all injured and out for at least a couple weeks (Naughton and Dawson will be gone for at least a month). Oh, and Vertonghen was injured earlier this season.
I am down to just one CB on my bench. Might have to find someone in the January transfer window, but that will probably bring my transfer funds down pretty low. Hopefully Man City still want Sandro so I'll have a little cash on hand after I get a defender.
And now Bale is out for at least 4 months with a broken foot. Jesus.Last edited by gopher_guy; 06-27-2013, 02:55 PM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Sealed another treble for Celtic, although the rest of the league had a pretty pathetic season. Only I won more than 50% of my games, and that was with a heavily rotated squad.
I went out in the last 16 to Benfica 5-3 on aggregate, a result I was hugely disappointed by. We lost the home leg 2-0 and we just simply did not turn up.
You could probably just look at my last post in terms of squad. We're losing a couple of players (Kelvin Wilson and Gary Hooper) due to them wanting more money. I only need a replacement for Wilson, we've got a ready made replacement in a 22 year old Chinese striker and we've got a couple of youngsters pushing for starts as well.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Kind of played around with the editor...kinda threw me off that some changes I made stuck while others didn't. I was trying to shorten the transfer embargo on Rangers since they are signing free transfers right now, they just aren't registering them until Sept. 1st (guess they found a loophole in the system) but you can't do that in game. For some reason though, it still says till the end of the summer window in 2013.
But what I did do was switch Sir Walter Smith from an executive to the Director of Football and moved Ally McCoist to assistant, leaving the managers position vacant so that I can step right in. I know this will make the third time I've started a Rangers save, but they be my favorite overseas team, and my last one got corrupted by all the crashes.
I need to thank the person who told me to play FM in offline mode. Since I started doing that, my crashes have disappeared.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just beat Everton for the Capital One Cup. Although I have also had some embarrassing defeats, including getting knocked out by Spartak Moscow in the knockout round of the Europa League , and losing to an npower Championship team in the FA Cup (tried to rest a bunch of players and it did not work out)
Tried to add more young talent in the January window but a couple deadline day deals were rejected.
Starting to get healthy, almost all players are back, except for Bale who is out for about another month. Can't wait to get him back.
Currently sitting 5th in the league, 2 pts out of 4th. I would really like to qualify for the Champions League this season.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
