2016 - Won Copa America. Was in a group with Chile, Ecuador, and Paraguay. After losing our opening match 0-1 to Chile, we beat Ecuador 2-1 and Paraguay 1-0. The giants then got knocked out nicely for us as we beat Peru 1-0, Chile 2-1, and Colombia 2-1 in that order for the win.

2017 - Finished 3rd in the Confederations Cup, beating Colombia in the 3rd place match. Spain destroyed us 4-0 in the semis. Gold Cup was a B squad that lost in the quarterfinals to Jamaica. Disappointing, but not all that surprising. Finished 2nd in the Hex.

2018 World Cup group draw: Spain, Germany, Ghana

Especially since THIS group actually exists... Ivory Coast, Finland, New Zealand, Canada.
I'm interested to see your starting XI. For me there's always an extremely random player that pushes through the ranks in a USMNT game. Todd Dunivant turned into my starting left back once due to being in amazing form. Nick Labrocca and Justin Braun were also beasts for me during WCQ's.

Getting into mid-February of my 3rd year with Spurs. Having a very good year so far, despite injury problems. Sitting at #3 in the league, with big wins over Man U and Chelsea already this year. I'm 5 points clear of Chelsea in 4th place.

Adam Maher is about to come back from a broken foot, and Stephan El Sharaawy is still out for another month with a knee injury. Gareth Bale also just went down for 2 months with an injury. Good thing I have great depth at midfield...

Adebayor is leading the team with 24 goals in all competitions. Danny Welbeck is next in line with 19. Jan Vertonghen has developed a golden head or something, he has 11 goals this season, I believe all of them from headers on corners or long throw ins.

Just beat Malaga in the first leg of the first knockout round of the Europa League 5-1. I was pumped. After getting bounced in the first round 2 years in a row, it's going to take a collapse of epic proportions for me to fail again.

Hopefully Maher and El Sharaawy coming back will balance out losing Bale for a while. Determined to make it into the Champions League!

So we're half way through the league and the table looks like this:

As you can see, we're in a pretty good position at the half-way stage. Top 3 are guaranteed European football, so I'd like to think I've done enough to secure that at least.

Whilst on the subject, we did get past the 1st qualifying round of the Europa League, beating Azeri team Inter Baku 6-1 on aggregate. We then faced Slovakian team Spartak Trnava and we raced into a 2-0 lead at home in the first leg and seemed to be flying until we conceded and ended up losing 3-2. A 1-0 victory was not enough in Slovakia and we ended up going out on away goals.

On the transfer side, not one player has come into Portadown, but many have left. We just simply cannot afford any more players and as it stands, we're losing money, although not at a drastic rate, we need to cut more costs or have a longer European run.

It took 3 years but I have finally gotten Spurs back to the Champions League!

(Tried getting a screen shot of the table, but it gave me some crappy HTML format one once I exited the game. Then I realized I should have just used the Print Screen button on my computer. D'oh!)

Finished 3rd in the EPL, behind Man U and Man City.

Danny Welbeck turned out to be a great signing for us, he lead our team and finished fourth in the EPL scoring race with 24 league goals. Gareth Bale didn't have a great season scoring wise, only 4 goals, but his match ratings are generally pretty high.

I have plenty of money to spend this summer, and I am undecided what to do with it. I don't really have any holes on the squad that need immediate filling.

Striker is solid with Welbeck and Adebayor (who is getting older but still very effective for us). Jermain Defoe was relegated to the bench for nearly all of this past season, and until he tells me otherwise I'm assuming he is fine with riding the pine as insurance in case Welbeck or Adebayor goes down with a long term injury. A couple of my attacking mids can fill in at striker for those various games where one of those two needs a rest.

Midfield is set with a stable that includes: Bale, Sigurdsson, Adam Maher, El Shaarawy, Luca Marrone, Mousa Dembele, Lewis Holtby, Aaron Lennon, and Nathan Redmond

The one place I could use improvement is RB. I have Walker and Naughton there now, and they're fine but not great. I am debating getting a quality RB or buying a few cheaper young players at various positions with very high ceilings to bolster my youth teams.

                  Champions!

We finished the season losing 1 of the last 26 (to Linfield) which gets us Champions League football next season. I pretty much sacrificed the cups in order to concentrate on the league and it looks a good decision. The rest of the top 4 gained Europa League football while Donegal Celtic lost their playoff and, with Dungannon, are relegated.

I can probably afford, due to my wage budget going up ever so slightly so I'm below it, a couple of players, but I think it would be too much of a drain on my finances. We've got nobody leaving the club so it's the same squad as last season for the assault on the Champions League.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Thought I'd do a European update now rather than half-way through the season and just do an end of season update instead.

We went further than I thought we would in Europe, and we're sorted financially for a few years I think! We came into the Champions League in the first qualifying round with the serious minnows (San Marino, Andorra etc teams) and managed to KI of the Faroe Islands 12-0 on aggregate.

It then got considerably tougher in the form of CSKA Sofia, the Bulgarian champions. In the first leg in Bulgaria, we pulled off a massive shock and came away with a 3-0 win and in the return leg, a 2-2 draw was good enough to see us through 5-2 on aggregate.

Third qualifying round saw us face British opposition in Scottish side Celtic (quite familiar to me...). After 86 minutes of the first leg, we held a 2-1 lead and played like it wasn't going to be a shock. 3 minutes later, we were 3-2 down. This, I feel, cost us going through. It was a similar game in the 2nd leg in Glasgow and it ended in a 1-1 draw which led to our exit of the Champions League 4-3 on aggregate.

That wasn't the end of European football however as we dropped down into the Europa League playoffs where we faced Dutch side AZ. The 2 legs were the only 2 games where I felt we were outclassed in every department in my tenure as Portadown boss. A 3-1 loss at home was followed by a 3-0 loss in Holland as we lost 6-1 on aggregate.

Just rested a majority of my starters vs Southampton in Capital One Cup in anticipation of being blown out and to keep them fresh for our (so far) great start in League 2. Somehow we scored first and took them to penalties after 120 minutes of 1-1 football.

Of course, since i sat my starters i had a bunch of bums for PKs. Lost 5-3 but still very proud of my reserves.

Oh and I also just signed a 21 yr old Belgian Full back off of frees for $2.6k/wk. He's RCL Defender as well as R WingBack and RL Midfielder
Should either contend for first team or be rotated in quite frequently. If not i still have a few months to find a team to loan him as it's just now September 1st.
