I'll answer my own question. I found (and am now using) the d'11 logos.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
With all the graphics add-ons sorted out, I started an Arsenal save. I'll do my standard career save starting with a low level team at some point, but managing Arsenal will give the chance to fully get a grasp on all the new features.
Arsenal are, as expected, stacked in the midfield. Their defense, though, is underrated, considering they gave up the 2nd fewest goals in the EPL last season, so that is what I will look to improve upon. I also need a striker to back up Giroud, as I'm just not that confident in using The Greatest Striker That Ever Lived (Bendtner) as a backup.
I love the new real time negotiation system. It's not only more realistic, but it actually allows one to get his transfer business done quickly. Given that fact that I just lost out on Botafogo's prized wonderkid Doria after Fenerbache swooped in at the last minute, quick will probably not be the word to describe my transfer business. Which I guess is also realistic, given Arsenal's penchant IRL to leave things until the last day.
I'm planning on running a 4-2CM-3AM-1 with Ozil serving as the AMC and tentpole of the offense.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I considered a 4-1-2-2-1, but that would mean starting Flamini as a DM, and I thought it would be beneficial to play an AMC since Wilshere, Cazorla, and Ozil are so adept at that position. I'm in only in the preseason, but playing Ozil as the AMC in a 4-2-3-1 has seen him racking up assists and my offense racking up goals. Then, if I am ahead late and want to preserve a lead, I swap out the AMC for a DMC and go with your 4-1-2-2-1. I'm still playing around with defensive roles and duties, though, as I have found throughout the preseason that I am giving up some stupid goals, mainly on through-balls catching my defenders napping. But that could be my press-heavy defense giving me problems.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
With Arsenal I've gone 4-2-3-1. Ozil and Giroud are devastating but trying to tweak because Ramsey's not as effective in central midfield. Wilshere got hurt during preseason and I've been using Podolski to rotate with Giroud. Planning on gunning for Lewandowski at season end but only signed Doria as the squad is ok everywhere elseComment

You guys that are using Arsenal will fin this thread interesting. It talks about getting the best out of Özil and Arsenal and use some rather non-traditional formations.

My goal in terms of signings was to address the team's weak spots in defense and at striker. With Sagna aging and Jenkinson not the guy I wanted moving forward, I needed a right back, and with only one backup CB I needed another to pair with Vermaelen. And having transfer listed Bendtner, I needed another forward.
Arsenal are in the financial position where I could afford top quality talent, but I wanted instead to go for potential and develop players alongside their veteran counterparts. Luckily my scouting department came through, as after instructing them to search for young players no older than 21, they found a slew of wonderkids. I spent the entirety of my transfer budget on 3 players, but they all look to have massive potential. In case people don't want to be spoiled and would rather find these wonderkids themselves, I'll put my signings in spoiler tags.
SpoilerMy first signing was Luciano Vietto, a 19 year old striker my scouts believed to have "important player" potential. Best of all, he was cheap, costing me only 5 mil USD.
SpoilerMy second signing was young stud CB Eder Alverez Balanta who at the age of 20 has a 16 tackling and 18 marking. He also came relatively cheap at 12 mil USD.
SpoilerMy third and final signing was my big money transfer, Mattia DeSciglio. He was enticing not only due to his immense potential at right back, but also due to the fact that he's adept at left back as well. He can also be used at CB or RM in a pinch, so he's truly versatile. He cost me 34 mil USD, but I think he'll be well worth it.

I'm jealous you signed Doria, as it seems like he's going to be a real stud.

Excited to develop him for sure. I signed Balanta on my Everton beta save and he was awesome as he overtook Distin. de Sciglio is also very good. Good signings!
Well, my first blowout occurred with the CL play-off:Attached FilesComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, Carlos Vela's agent just informed me that his client is available for $6 mil. I'm not really in the market for another striker, but at that price I may not be able to resist.
Edit: And he has a $5.25 mil buy back fee for Arsenal. 17 dribbling, 16 finishing, 17 flair...this is a no-brainer.
Edit #2: His POS Scumbag agent wanted way too much money. I may try again in January.
Edit #3: I drew Pacos Fereira in the CL Best Placed Playoff. Should be an easy affair, though let's hope these are not my famous last words.Last edited by rsnomar05; 11-07-2013, 03:12 AM.Comment

Have you enabled the German national team? Have to do it every iteration of the game due to licensing issues.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After some minor tinkering with the individual shouts in the friendlies, I think i understand them enough to start the regular season.
First match is home vs Ipswitch and the lads went crazy! Felt the opposition out and then Pogrebnyak scored right before halftime.
After a second yellow card from one of my center mids, McAnuff dribbled down the left, right past a would-be defender and rocketed one near post to put us up 2-0
Pogrebnyak sealed it with a sick bender from the right, just outside of the box to the far post.
Great start! (minus sending off)Last edited by jmaj315; 11-07-2013, 10:49 PM.I used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Managed to bag my second title, along with a couple of cups (Senior Shield and League Cup) in my 2nd season at Kitchee.
My plan of getting out of Hong Kong quickly quite evidently failed, although I'm now something like the 5th best manager in the Hong Kong hall of fame! I'm considering resigning soon, I don't want to get stuck down here. I've not much else to say really now, not a really exciting season!Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Season one at Weston-super-Mare in the books. Was predicted to finish somewhere in the bottom half of the table.
Spoiler
WE DID IT!
After a rocky start, we really hit our stride.
Spoiler
I didn't really trust the team in the playoffs yet, as we'll go on streaks where we win 4 games straight by 4 goals, then can't hit the net to save our lives. I haven't brought in anyone yet, and my top player (who won Skrill South Best Player award) doesn't seem to want to re-sign with me. Go to offer him a new contract and all I get is "My player is not interested in entering into contract talks with your team at this point."Last edited by ubernoob; 11-08-2013, 01:01 AM.badComment
