Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I can't believe I was able to steal a win in the opening match of the World Cup against the hosts. Egypt and Russia are the two other teams in my group and I was able to beat Greece in a friendly earlier in the year so I'm thinking I might have a chance to repeat this magic again.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Was able to get out of the group stage with a draw against both Egypt and Russia. I probably should have beaten Egypt as I had tons of missed chances but got a 1-1 draw which led to me having to play complete anti-football against Russia. Played a respectable match against Portugal and lost 3-1 in the Rof16. If anybody is doing a MLS save, I would highly recommend customizing the game so you get all Jamaican players, there are some very good players in Jamaicas national team pool that play in the Jamaican Premier League(Jermaine Anderson is a 33/34 year old forward that KICKTV featured in their Hex series that was an absolute tank for me holding up play and scored a stunner against Portugal).

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
3rd year over, finished 2nd in my league with 81 points. 4 points behind #1 team who got automatically promoted, my team has this playoff thing for promotion........I think, I don't know. Italy is weird. My striker, who has 26 goals in 33 games is out for a while so I don't think we'll do well at all.
Lost in the semifinals to a team in my own league 7-3 on aggregate, **** everything.Last edited by Kobalt; 12-12-2013, 11:32 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
3rd place match, went out in the semi-final against Spain 2-1, beat Portugal 6-2 in the Quarter Final(My scout said their defence was lacking, so I went with Overload the entire match). Very happy about the 3rd place in the World Cup. However, the next club to offer me a job, is taking me from the US. I enjoyed my two year run as manager of the US, and we did some good things, but it's time for a farewell.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I've spent a few hours creating a World League of sorts, there's only 1 real thing that I'm having trouble with and that is holding it yearly. For some reason the editor just doesn't like it. When putting together the fixture list, the draw date has to be a month before the first game, which it was. When the year interval is switched to yearly, it brings up the error "Draw date for World League is before the end of the previous competition". The Final is 20th December, update date is 24th December, draw date 31st December. It works fine every two years, so I presume I have to leave a certain amount of time between end of competition and a new year, but it doesn't say anywhere.
At the moment, it runs every two years until I can figure out how to fix it, but this is a reasonably quick job at the moment.
Thanks to a couple of new nations, it's a 224 team tournament comprising of 16 groups of 14 teams which are ranked according to World Rankings. You play each team home and away once, from February to the end of July playing each week. 4 from each group progress, which is 64 teams. Then it is a straight, 2 legged knockout up until the final which is just 1 leg.

A few notes:
- This is a database intended for a World League. I would recommend NOT taking control of a league team. During the simulation I did, Norwich finished 3rd and nearly won the Premier League thanks to players not being available. If you do take control of a team, I wish the best of luck to you!
- There is not a league that you have to pick for this to be enabled, so it is up to you which leagues to enable. A good start date is Brazil.
- Be prepared for big scores, I think I got a bit lucky in that the biggest I saw was a 12-0 win by Germany over American Samoa.
- I have not holidayed this or tested extensively, so there may be bugs etc in future years. If there is, please let me know as I'll be able to change a few things hopefully.
- Luck of the draw plays a massive part in the knockout rounds. Nobody is ranked here at the moment, but I'm considering changing this.
Here is the link to the XML file. Enjoy!

Well, they say you should never go back, but there's no way I was staying away from a struggling Malaga.Support Local Sports
