My Man City/Papua New Guinea game is already dead. I can't get past a date in November at all. FM hates me.

I'm going to take this time to go back to an old classic: CM 01/02. I was 9 when that came out, makes me feel old.

Took charge of the USMNT and played my first qualifier - and managed a 1-1 draw away to Costa Rica. I'm thinking, "great, nice result!" because in real life not getting beaten down there is cause to celebrate. Then I see the fans are very disappointed with the result and my team is questioning my ability to manage the team! Yikes...managing the USA will be even harder than I thought.

In my two years at the helm of the USMNT we never lost a game to another CONCACAF nation, and took 3rd in the World Cup. I thought the American FA would be thrilled, but they were just "pleased" americans have unrealistic expectations

I finished my first season at Arsenal in 3rd place, 9 points behind league winners Man Utd. Considering I was struggling mightily early on due to an insane amount of month-plus injuries, and considering I had to talk the board out of firing me on two separate occasions, I consider this to be one of my most successful FM seasons ever. I don't think it's in the same league as the time in FM 10 I won back to back league/CL/Pokal titles without losing a match with Bayern Munich, but incredibly successful nonetheless.

I've been given a $113 mil USD transfer budget and 169 mil wage budget, so I've got some cash to work with. My goal is to improve at left back (Monreal is good but not great, and Gibbs is underrated in FM) and at AML. Cazorla is my current AML, and he's terrible in FM 14. Why? Because despite his fantastic ratings he has the "shoots from distance" preferred player move. This means that any time he nears the box he decides to let loose a wild, inaccurate shot that has no chance of doing anything but injure someone in the stands. To anyone else managing Arsenal, or to anyone who has managed Arsenal in the past, what did you do to get the best out of Cazorla? I'm currently training him to shoot less often from distance, but my coach thinks the training will fail.

Finished a season on a Liverpool save I started. Finished 4th thanks to a win on the last day coupled with a draw by Arsenal, who I was tied on points with, but way behind in GD.

Anyone else a bit underwhelmed with this year's match engine?

Finally getting a good jump into FM14 and I decided to start with the only able to pick teams without a coach option. Decided as I was looking at the available teams that I was going to try to build up Ireland as a national powerhouse. I'm starting out as the national team coach and will be looking to get hired at one of the club teams when those positions become available. Hopefully I will be able to have enough success with the NT to keep my job while I hope to keep enough quality regens in the country to help the Irish league grow a bit. I started Jan 2013 so I'd still have enough WC Qualifiers left to try to get up the table and qualify. Only played Germany so far and was lucky to beat them 2-1 playing very defensive and countering, so I am setting 3rd in the group, 3 points behind 2nd place Sweden with 4 or 5 games left against Sweden and countries below me in the table.

Outside of some minor issues (like players sometimes trying to play the ball off a defender for a corner, only there is no defender in sight so they kick the ball straight out for a goal kick) I am loving the match engine. I had major problems with players taking way too many horrible outside shots but that got fixed in their most recent update.

How would you grade my year 2 incoming transfers? As I'm only allowed to upload 5 files, my final two transfers will be in the next post.

Thiago is going on loan back to Bayern for a season. I had to include that to seal the deal, but it actually makes sense for me as Arteta is 32 and still quality, but will likely start to decline this year due to his age. So Thiago comes in next season to replace him.

I'll be looking to manage an international team after the WC, but I have my doubts that the USA job will become open soon:
