Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

After sticking through the first season of my Arsenal save with the awful game engine (ex. Giroud missing a wide open shot), I've experimented with tactics and been successful in the second season. This game is really about tactics, not players anymore. That's a good thing in my eyes.

In my opinion, of course. I'm sure many are having a lot of fun with it. I'm sure some day I'll come back to it. But the motiviation to craft tactics in such a complex manner just isn't there when I feel like the players will do the same stupid things no matter what I tell them. It's a shame too, because it's the first time I feel like they got the defense completely right. The blocked shots and tackling are more realistic to me.
I have the exact same complaints (but more on the stupid defensive plays)! Although I've seen less of them lately since I've revised my tactics and adjusted my player shouts.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I keep coming back to Rangers in FM13. Can't help it.

And when you get that first win against Celtic, it's even more delightful. Though it came much earlier in this save than it has ever.

In my first season, the Old Firm occurred twice. A 2-1 defeat in the third round of the League Cup at Celtic Park in a match that wasn't as close as the scoreline indicated. We ended our first season at Hampden Park, the finals of the William Hill Cup against those dang Hoops. We took a 1-0 lead into halftime in a match that resembled a rugby match more than a football match. Both teams ended the match down a man, multiple cautions, multiple injuries, it's what the Old Firm is all about. Unfortunately, Getafe loanee Miku slotted two goals in the second half and we lost again 2-1. Much better than some of my defeats to these guys (lots of 4-1, 3-0, 5-1 losses).

Season 2 and once again, the third round of the League Cup sees us traveling to Celtic Park. We were coming off a disastrous 2-1 loss to Arbroath in league play (guess we were caught looking ahead). David Templeton rifled a shot past Fraser Forster in the 10th minute to give us an early lead, but then Celtic answered right back in the 33rd minute. By the 55th minute, all three of my subs were used up. Lewis MacLeod, Seb Faure, and David Templeton were all lost to injury. Celtic were keeping us on our back foot, but we were doing a good job of frustrating them and they were launching long shot after long shot much to my delight. A couple defensive gaffs were covered up by some big Neil Alexander saves. And then this happened in the 87th minute...

Yeah, mine is more on the back end, offensively I'm used to all of my goals being offside, or being onside hitting the post.

I'll be back to FM13 now

I just hope they patch the issues since the last patch was back in December. Plus, I don't plan on buying a new version of FM until 16 or 17.

              This really sucks.

I was half way thru, my 2nd season with Pompey, and my save got corrupted. I tried rolling my system back to a previous save but the game would freak out. I would get the dreaded xml parsing error plus error in line1 message. I tried doing the fixes for this, to no avail.

Not sure if an update by Microsoft did something so, finally gave up and deleted FM14 and re-installed.

Are you playing 14? Have you tried the Leak to Press feature? I'm curious if it works, I can only see bad things happening with it.

I have tried the leak to press thing in my test save long time ago, got fired before I even got my first match in.

Has anyone experienced this ... I'm on FM 13.

                      " FM 2013 v13.3.3.359652 crash dump"

I keep getting this damn "serious error" anytime a game finishes, I even deleted my save because I thought it just might be the file. Nope. Even when I start a new save it pops up and its really starting to get on my nerves.

Ugh!! I had not played FM in since December if that matters.

                      I need my FM!

Just set a club record at Tottenham with a 21 game unbeaten streak!

A lot of draws (my league record is 14-10-2) which is good for 3rd, two points out of 1st place. Although both Chelsea and Man U in front of me have a game in hand.

There have been plenty of frustrating ties, but I'm still very happy with only two losses in league all season!

Yesss, after one failed takeover, I got a new owner. Hopefully, he gives me more money to work with.

Edit: New ownership, new everything and I'm unemployed. Sucks.

Dang it Lee Wallace, you are my best player. I have several old decrepit contracts expiring. I'm bringing in some exciting new talent to bolster the squad. We've won promotion to the Scottish Championship. We won the league cup. We're in the semis of the William Hill Cup against Celtic.....

And you want to leave for a bigger club?!?!?!?!?!

And for the first time I can think of, I promised him promotion next season, but he felt that wasn't ambitious enough and still wanted to leave.

Guess I'm going to have to buy a new left back as well this summer.

Update, with a whole lot of tweaks to the Match Engine means that after finally going back to 13, I'm going to give 14 a run and kick my friend off my FM computer.
