Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
You can sometimes find guys to sign on non-contract and you only pay them when you play them. As far as others it takes a little luck and a lot of time but if you can find the right ones it can change your fortunes fast.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yes. It starts in 2018(just like real life), iirc.
Just getting into Feb 2015 and checked up on the big leagues to see what's happening. Real Madrid are 14th in La Liga...Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Coentrao, James, Casillas - ALL injured. James is due back soon, but the others are out for another 4-8 weeks. Ouch.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Things are looking up at Woking after a shaky first couple of months in charge. 13th place after 34 matches, slowly climbing the table.
My team just played its best two matches since I took over. Back-to-back away matches against Gateshead - 1st place and Barnet - 2nd place.
I parked the bus against Gateshead and it wasn't easy, but my keeper put in a stellar performance, making 9 saves ensuring a 0-0 draw. They had 24 shots to just 4, and 12 to 1 on target. Getting a draw felt like a victory here.
Next, we hit the road for Barnet who are close behind Gateshead for top of the Conference. I took a little bit of a risk and pushed forward more. It paid off.
A 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal in the 41st minute from a corner.
My defenders all had 7.0+ ratings, they are really putting in top performances as of late.
I'm not getting comfortable, though. 12 matches to go and I'm aiming for a top half finish. It wouldn't be a bad finish, really.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Due to an easy CL Group, I played my B Team in every match and easily finished 2nd. Now I'm wishing I had played my A Team against Tottenham, as first place was within my grasp.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I just turned down a $105 mil offer for Iturbe from PSG. He's my best player, but damn that's a lot of money. I was tempted, so if PSG come back offering even more I might cave.
Those that have been following this thread for awhile may remember that last season I won the Champions League, which means I get to play in the FIFA Club World Cup. I was drawn in the semifinal against Egyptian side Al Ahly. I played the B Team and managed to put up 50 shots (!) but only managed to win 1-0 in extra time. Still, it's on to the final, where I play Corinthians.
Also, walking injury Humam Tariq got injured yet again. His coach report now finally confirms what I had feared, he has a high susceptibility to injuries. His potential is massive, but if he keeps getting hurt, he won't amount to anything more than a sub/B Teamer.Attached FilesLast edited by rsnomar05; 04-24-2015, 03:49 AM.Comment

Don't add the FIFA Club World Cup to the list of trophies I have won at Roma. I dominated Corinthians but lost. Frustrating.Attached FilesComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
This may sound weird but I've just accepted a job in Scotland so I'm moving back to Europe after two years away. One of the first things I thought of was 'I need to get back into Football Manager'.
This happened ever time I would come visit Europe when I was younger. Football Manager just calls to me when soccer is the main sport in a country.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just started a new career in FM14 and will be documenting it here at OS. This is my first legit go at playing this game for any real amount of time so if anyone has any advice for me while following my thread please don't hesitate to speak up. Being arguably the best sim game on the market I think this is the best way for me to get the most out of my playing experience.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished the first season at Woking...15th with 55 points, which is not great. The team played well and then tanked at the end, we could've had 11th place. I succeeded in avoiding relegation, but that's about it. The board are hot on my heels now and I need to start next season strong, or I'll be packing my bags(not surprised, I didn't meet their expectations of a mid-table finish).
At least I can look forward to cutting some dead weight off and bringing in some underrated talent that I've been keeping an eye on.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

These are the games that just drive you mad as a manager, especially when you are trying to chase down Celtic, and Hibernian is in 11th place.Comment
