Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Into my first full season of my Journeyman save with Granit in the Belarusian 2nd Division...

Apparently Belarus takes the month of May off (season runs from March-November) almost halfway through the season, so this seems like a good spot to update.

Going back to last season... I took over at Granit, who had just one win on the season. I managed to double our win total! Here's the final table:

It must have been a miracle promotion last year, because we were WAY overmatched in almost every game. And coming into this season, the board is just expecting me to finish in the top half of the table.

    Now on to this season...

I had two of my best players poached by teams in the first division, so that was a bummer. But I got $20k for one of them, and was able to replace him with a cast-off from Dinamo Minsk for only $1k, and he is not that much of a downgrade.

Some interesting roster rules in the second division: You must have two U21 players in your match squad, and one of them has to be in your starting XI every game. I have a few hot prospects good enough for my first team, so this hasn't been a problem for me. Another rule: no foreign players allowed. Everyone has to be from Belarus. I have one foreign player, from Russia; he seems content just going to training and collecting his wages, because when I asked him to find a new team, he refused and said he is staying, lol.

As for my on-field performance... It's been okay. I'm very good at getting draws!

The board has allowed me to start studying for my first coaching license. So after a few months I'll have my National C License!

I set up my first Journeyman save and applied for basically every 2 star and down job that was available. Had about 5 offers ranging from Belarus, Northern Ireland, Iceland etc. I wound up taking a job in the Russian First Division, a 2 star team, but a team that is expected to 'fight bravely against relegation'. Didn't expect to get a 2 star team as a half star reputation guy, but I'll take it.

They seem to have a decent little squad, but not sure what to do with my 3 4 star strikers. Playing a 4-3-3 narrow fits the team but just seems awkward to me. Not sure I want to waste one of them on the bench in a 2 striker formation though.

I also got fired from Whitehawk in my Vanarama South climb save which pissed me right the hell off. We were predicted 2nd in my 1st season, and my team played awful and finished 10th. This year we were predicted 1st...won the 1st 2 games and then collapsed. Got fired in 16th place about 14 games in. Never seen such a good team play so poorly. I tried literally everything I could think of but they just didn't perform.

I kinda want to start over with the same team and try again, but for now in the same save I applied for Southport in the Vanarama National and got it. They were currently in a relegation fight.

First time I've ever seen this.

I just took over at that club. I can't find anything about it in game.

There is no FFP tab/page. Its a club in Belarus second division.

Well it looks like in 2016, your club had a 1 point deduction for financial irregularities in real life, so if you're still in the 2016 season it makes sense. If you're in 2017, well, I don't know, haha.

Okay that makes sense. Its between the 2016 and 2017 season. Their seasons run the same as MLS, March-October. So that is why its still showing in Jan 2017 as the season hasn't switched over to the next yet.

Some how I've recreated Liverpool in Belarus. We get embarrassed by all the bottom of the table teams, and then turn around and destroy the top of the table. Its very frustrating.

EDIT 1: Oh for **** sakes. We just lost in the first round of the cup to a team in the lowest division in the country. With all virtual players who are not even as good as my worst youth team player.

EDIT 2: Figured it out. My tactic was causing us to get countered too easily.

                        Long and short answer... win.

Also international tours during break also help with reputation. I believe also have feeder teams gives a boost as well.

I'm really loving this team in Belarus in this new JM save I started. But a much bigger, richer club has come in out of nowhere with a job offer. And I kind of want it. But I also don't want to leave yet. I swear I spend more time contemplating choices in this game than I do for anything else in my life.

Fired up my typical Rangers save and boy did we get off to a horrible start, languishing in 9th and the board threatening my job and demanded I get 10 points in five games heading into the winter break or face termination.

Lads respond by going on a ten game unbeaten streak (8 wins/2 draws) that vaulted us into 4th place, two points out of the continental places.

Bad news though was the rock in my midfield, Emerson Hyndman, broke his foot in training and I shipped him back to Bournemouth as he's basically done for the year.

Should be an interesting finish to the season.

Do have to say, board is much more reasonable on the new update and not demanding you win the league right out of the gate.

I find it funny that there's two of us currently managing teams in the Belarus second division in this thread...

Apparently Antonio Conte harbors a grudge against me, a rookie manager in the Belarus 2nd division.
