Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Another really good year in the second year. So close!

We ended up losing to Videoton pretty horrifically 12-1 agg. So that was a terrible start to the year. But we managed to fight through some major injury crises and finish strong. TNS did have a very bad season by their standards. They had some big injuries and lost some key players to English clubs in January.

I ended up not signing a single player. I released 5 players end of last season. And filled those loses with youth players and a reserve player. And our star man ended up being a 16 year old kid from the youth team. I've been fighting off TNS as best I can all year. This kid is now a beast after playing in every single game this year. In all comps he had 34 apps, 9 goals, 18 assists, 5 PotM and an average rating of 7.19. He has one more year left, and I doubt he renews. At 17 now, he has already outgrown the club.

Oh and we won this silly little cup thing called theWORLD cup. Only because none of the other big teams took it seriously this year and were all knocked in the first round.

I feel like I should cash in and try to move up. But I kind of want to stay until I win the league and finally knock TNS off their top spot. They have now won the league 8 years in a row. I guess it depends on what jobs come open. My contract is up soon, and the board haven't asked me to renew yet, which seems odd.

Had a hard time choosing a team and actually playing with them so I googled fun saves people were doing. I settled on Donegal Celtic in the 3rd division in Northern Ireland. Trying to boost the club and the NIFL premiership's reputation as far as I can until I get bored with this save.

        Also managing N.Ireland's national team.

So close to getting something out of this match. Still 2nd in the group, through 3 matches with 6 points. Besiktas and Roma only managing 1 point each.

I may have asked this before, but just wanted to check back with it. When doing a journeyman save, do you guys exclusively wait for offers to come in? Or are you always applying for jobs that are open? What is 'more realistic' in your mind?

I will wait for an offer usually. But if I've been with a club for a while and I've done good with them and I feel its time to move because I've taken them as far as I can, I'll start applying for a select few jobs before I step down. But only if they are jobs I have a shot at getting and I'm interested in. Always compare your body of work and what your current reputation is to the clubs star rating you apply for. If you have a 1 star rep and have never won a trophy (cup or league), don't apply for a 3 star club. You wont get hired. It would be extremely rare for you to get a 3 star job in that situation.

You do have to also be careful with applying for jobs while in a job. The more you do it, the more it decreases your hidden professional stat. And your hidden loyalty stat. Which will effect certain clubs from hiring you if they get to low. It is always best to step down or run out your contract and step down than it is to apply for lots of jobs while in one. This will see you start getting things in interviews about how many jobs you've applied to, and the media asking about your lack of loyalty.

But of course you can ignore all that and just keep winning things and move up eventually anyways. But its a much slower rate of moving up.

And with dynamics working its hard to make that big jump up also now. If you are a 1.5 star manager that wins some hardware with a tiny team and then jumps up to a 3 star team, those players aren't going to back you up right away. Most of the roster will oppose you, because they have a better rep than you do. So morale will take a hit and you will struggle early with that team. This has changed how I've thought about my journeyman save this year. I used to try and get the best job possible, and move up as fast as possible. Now I think getting the most appropriate job possible to raise my rep is a better idea. Again, a slower rise to the top. But a better way to grow your rep. And probably more realistic. No manager wins one cup win Wales and then goes directly to a Championship side.

Sorry for such a long winded reply to your short simple question.

If you paid with PP it should have been instant. You don't get any notification or anything. At least I didn't when I re upped this year to download the new face pack updates. I paid. Then went back to the mega pack page and just downloaded them. And it worked as intended, directly from their server and not the slow free upload site links.

With Champions League football coming up, the board gave us $9.69M to spend this summer. And by finishing second in Ligue I last season, we'll go straight into the group stages. Very nice.

Speaking of our Champions League group.....oh boy.

                      Gulp

                      Notable Departures

CB Yohan Roche - Left on a free, signed by FC Sion in Swiss Super Leauge
                      86 (21) appearances, 3 goals, 2 assists, 7.24 AVG in four seasons

Yohan was a signing in my second season with Amiens, and was instrumental in getting us promoted from Ligue 2. As the talent level of the squad improved, Yohan found himself on the outside, and after only making six appearances in the 2026/27 season, he spent all of last season on loan with Brest in the French third tier, where he had a very good season, recording seven player of the match awards and had an average match rating of 7.29.

AMC Rayane Durand - left on a free, still unsigned
82 (52) appearances, 21 goals, 26 assists, 10 POM awards, 7.07 AVG in five seasons

Rayane was signed in my second season with Amiens from Monaco and played his role in getting us promoted from Ligue 2. Unfortunately for Durand, the emergence of Steve Martial relegated Durand to rotational duties, but he made the most of his appearances over the seasons and was a key piece off the bench who never once complained about playing time.

RB Giulio Lupica - sold to Porto for $7.25M ($10.25M futures)
41 (2) appearances, 4 goals, 9 assists, 3 POM awards, 7.54 AVG in one season

Signed on a free last season from Ipswich, and instantly became our best player. We weren't looking to sell him, but when Porto came calling with their offer, we decided to sell him and make some profit, especially since we have to pay for another stadium expansion.

ST: Lamine Ghezali (3.5/3.5 stars/29 years old/$6.75M) - Signed this summer from Nice for $3.1M. Last season, made 12 starts, scoring one goal and registering one assist with a match rating of 6.56.

                      Key Reserves
GK: Sebastien Fleury (2.5/2.5 stars/26 years old/$1.3M) - Signed last season from Red Star for $325k. Last season, made 14 starts with a goals against average of 1.65 and a match rating of 6.89.

CM: Ander Arrieta (2.5/3.0 stars/22 years old/$2.2M) - Signed in 2026 from Troyes for $3.2M. Last season, made 7 starts (22 subs), scoring two goals and a match rating of 6.90.

LB: Gary Forest (3.5/3.5 stars/24 years old/$7.5M) - Signed in 2026 from Hearts for $525k. Last season, made 20 starts, registering five assists and a match rating of 7.42.

ST: Oliveira (3.0/4.0 stars/22 years old/$8.25M) - Signed in 2026 from Atletico Mineiro for $6.75M. Last season, made 11 starts (16 subs), scoring eight goals and registering two assists and a match rating of 6.80.

Two freaking years in a row TNS wins the title on goal difference over us. The game is just taunting me at this point.

It’s a horrible feeling to lose the title on goal differential.

So, I turned off transfers for the first window. Does that mean I can't loan players either? I keep getting offers, but it says "0 short term loans allowed", even though it says the duration is end of season. What am I missing?

If so, that kinda sucks as everyone else is loaning players?

That shouldn't be the case. Transfers off for the first window just zero out the transfer budgets for every team. Doesn't stop them from performing free transfers or loans.

Loan rules change from league to league, so your mileage will vary depending on where you at.
