Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
No idea what I'm going to do first. Want to try a true journeyman as I haven't made it more than 1 or 2 seasons in one of those before. My last save was a climb from the lower levels of England, so I may ignore that for a while (although it is very fun).
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Doesn't seem to be a FM 18 file in my documents and sports interactive so I can put some of the sortitoutsi files in..did they move where the folder is?
Yeah and the new scouting system made it really hard to manage in lower leagues too. I've been lucky with getting my starters to a part time contract with a low weekly wage.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I haven't had to much of an issue with the scouting myself. Other than it being hard to convince someone who is half decent to join unless they sit team-less for a long period. Then they usually accept.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After finishing the season on fire (which included a 4-1 win at Old Trafford thanks to a Danny Welbeck brace and a Miki goal), I finished the 3rd in the league and have also made the Europa League Final against Lisbon.
The Board have already gave me a budget of 160 million next year.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I did that yes. I believe I figured it out so I deleted my post. I copied the update folder into the original logopack folder and then moved it to the graphics folder and it seems to have worked.
Sorry for asking so many questions! I'm not used to putting mods on games and messing with file structure.Teams:

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
The second season was a close run race up until the last 8 weeks. We we were bouncing from first and second most of the season. Then at the end of the season other teams just vanished and we ended up winning the title.
And then that is when all hell broke lose.
First to go was a starting midfielder, one of our top 5 best players on the roster. Followed by our first choice goalkeeper who played 45 games for us. Then our starting right back. Followed by one of the main center halfs. Then the backup central mid who was going to replace the guy that already left bounced. Then one of our three best strikers left. This was of course all on a free because of non-contracts. Then our fourth best striker left. Our backup goalkeeper. Another midfield player. And then another center back.
And to cap it all off this happened:
That is the dude I created. I expected this. Really why I created him. And that is a lot of money. I don't blame him for taking it. I would have also. But we just lost half our team. So it stung a bit. But we do have 220K in the bank now. Should give us running costs for 2-3 seasons if I can manage player wages. And you guys don't try and gouge me on contract renewals. Because everyones contract is up end of this season. Also I took another pay cut from $120/w down to $45/w.
Board expect a top half finish for this season. Media predicts bottom half. I agree with the media. I will be shocked if we can finish top half. A lot of turn over. And we are changing systems from a 4-3-3 narrow to a 4-2-3-1 standard. Pre-season has been rough.
Here is what I'm working with this season. Only seven players from last season. A few youth call ups and crap ton of new players.
Happy I can offer part-time contracts now so players can't be poached. I should have been able to last year but the board wouldn't let me due to finical issues. I'm also scouting a crap ton of potential loans to maybe fill out the squad better and have some depth at key areas.

Transfers heading into my first season with Torino. Cristian Ansaldi and Juan Foyth joined before I took over. Ansaldi will be cover all along the backline, and Foyth will start at centerback. All the free transfers are youth prospects I allowed my Head of Youth Development to sign.
Belotti wanted a move to play Champions League football, so I secured the club's largest ever transfer fee from Dortmund for him. Then Villarreal came calling for Falqué, and I got them to drop their largest ever fee on him. I didn't want to sell, but he wanted to go back home to Spain.
The $75M I got from those two alone allowed me to bring in Sergi Enrich and Santi Mina from Eibar and Valencia, respectively, as my replacements for Belotti. Enrich is in his peak, while Mina is one for the future, but still capable. He got the start in our opening fixture against Napoli, and only went and scored a hat-trick.
Nicolò Barella will be a great fit for my Segundo Volante role for a long time, IMO.
Antonio Barreca was someone I found when looking for another player who would qualify as trained at my club, for registration quotas. He happens to be my best left back, so I'll definitely look to sign him permanently as soon as I can.
Adam Ounas was brought in as cover on the wings, but will be getting more playing time now after Falquè departed.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Ended up losing 3-0 in the Europa League final to Sporting Lisbon.
Signed Niklas Stark from Hertha for 30 million. Can play CDM or CB so he’s a nice fit.
Have about 130 million to spend and I’m not quite sure what do with it. I’ve been looking at Malcom but honestly I’d rather play Reiss Nelson then spend crazy amount of money.
Barca offered 30 million for Mustafi and Real wanted 44 million for Miki and told them both to **** off.
My transfer policy going forward is to invest in youth and let them develop because these prices some of these players are going forward for and what teams want for them are insane.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So this just happened.
All three goals in the second half were mistakes by Froggat. I had already made all three subs at halftime. Those stupid back passes that go into the goal or get intercepted by a striker. He may never play another minute for me.
Pretty much in line with how the season has gone so far for us.
The games in hand, rearranged from cup games, are against the teams in first and second. So, yay.
