Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I landed a job in my journeyman, ended up with Odder IGF in the Danish 2nd Division
They hired me pretty quick, and I didn't actually check out the club before accepting the offer, and I missed this unfortunate tidbit
Oh well, I've done amateur clubs before, it's easier to leave at the very least.
But wait as the late great Billy Mays once said, There's more!
Oh sweet, last place, and a 6 point deduction! It can only go uphill from here!Support Local Sports

Afc Telford vanarama update. So hearts decided to match my release clause for my star striker of 254k. Highest transfer sale for my team was 30k prior. And what’s completely bull is he scored 20 goals for me last year. What’s even more horse crap is they offered a day after he breaks an afc Telford record of 4 goals in one match.
So when he leaves, I give this youth back up a shot. He scores 3 hat tricks in 6 games with a total of 11 goals. Everything is perfect and dandy. I’m so excited and then he completely loses it and goes on a 16 game drought without a score. Jeremy Lin like. My team is currently in 1st in sky league one and things are good. What’s worrisome is every big league team is trying to steal away my young guys and it’s working. I will never have a release clause in my contract. But what’s suck is if they offer a huge offer your board will accept it regardless of what you say.
It’s a learning curve and I hope we can continue our strong form.
Quick question, I trial guys every-time I get those scout recommendations and sign young guys who look decent. Just realized I have a total of 75 guys between my first team,u23, and u18. Is that overkill? I’ve found some real gems but starting to think I can go after big guys instead of a bunch of youngins especially since we are professional now.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Yeah I keep alternating Laca and Auba up too as an AF. Both are banging in the goals, neither really standing out.
Welbeck has been outstanding from LW. I think he has about 15 goals in all comps.
I brought in Berardi from Sassulo for something like £17M. I like my wingers to play as IF, so I don’t know what to do with the development of Nelson and ESR. I am thinking ESR will be the replacement for Özil down the road?
I did resign Cech for 1 year and Ramsey for 3. This was a heart move over a head move—but it’s ok as they’ve both performed well.
I’m curious YOUR long term plans for ESR and Nelson...?

I sent ESR to Burnley on a loan, and I’m retraining Nelson as a potential replacement to Ozil.
On a different subject, I’m convinced something got screwed up in that last update. I’m seeing all kinds of crazy free kicks and long shots go in. Work the ball in the box isn’t working as it should.
Maybe it’s just me but this is what I’m seeing.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
How exactly do you get players to transition from player to coach role (a la Mertesacker). I'd like to transition players like Cech and Lichsteiner into coaching roles when they finish playing--but not sure how exactly?
I do see that I can send some players on a coaching course--but is there more to "the process" than that?Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

If they want to do that, send them on the course. Lots of players don't and just retire. If you can send someone on one then start just ask the board to do it. The first couple badges only take a few months. So you can get 2-3 done while they are still playing so they have a head start on attributes for coaching. Then when they are winding down in playing offer them a contract as a coach and see if they take it. They usually have to be 33-35 years old and not playing much if at all before they will transition. But even if they are that old and still have good physical attributes, they might want to move to a lower level and keep playing for a few years. So if you really want someone like that to stick around and coach you have to offer them a player/coach contract. Then just never play them. Not sure about FM19, but player/coaches in past games never complained about not playing. And usually after one season of that they retire from playing.

Back to my comfort zone, England, to start off FM19. Already loving the way the tactics look. Love the "In Possession" and "Out Of Possession" separate instructions.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I've come across the most annoying ****ing thing right now. A few of my players want to move on as we're in the 1st division, and they're getting superliga offers, i'm able to tell them that if they wait we could get promoted, but it only gives me a choice for next season or the season after, not the current season. We're currently in first in the league, and pretty on track to win the league and get promoted, but I can't use that to my advantage, and now everyone wants to leave and I'm going to have a full blown mutiny.
Thankfully **** like this is why I never fully disable the in-game editor, without it, this would've have become unplayable so quickly, *** ****.Support Local Sports
