Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

Finished Year 2 with West Ham in second place, behind Man City. We lost to them on the second to last match-day, which stings. But I had only hoped to qualify for the Champions League, so I'm very happy. Scored 106 goals which was fun.

My 23 y/o centerback Issa Diop [click for profile] was named the Football Writers Footballer of the Year, and the PFA Player of the Year, and the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Also landed four players in the PFA Team of the Year:

    Oh and this happened...

My loaned regen GK has 25 app and has only conceded 10 goals to go along with his 15 shutouts yet he's average rating is only a 6.86 in the Eredisive...

What gives? Cause he plays with good CD's FB's ?

It could be the defense in front of him is good, but I also think GK ratings are a bit off this year. It just doesn't seem like good GK performances get rewarded as much. Maybe it's just me, though.

Gk rating ia pretty explicitly tied to what they do. My best GK rating (8.3, iirc) had 10 saves, and a 95% pass completion

Fired from my first job in this journeyman save. Not a great start.

So I some how got hired by a 1.5 star team for my first job (Avarta). So I figure lets only go after a 1 star team next. The only one open is Welling in VNS. I get the job after making stupid promises. Every single player on the team opposes me. I lost reputation, not quit a half star fell to barely a star at all. And on the day I get the job, my status is insecure. From day one. This is going to end horrifically and quickly.

Oh no that sounds horrible but that's why I love journeyman saves, you just never know.

I lost the dressing room 2 games into the pre-season friendlies. The captain and the vice captain came to me and said they wanted me to step down because they had lost faith in me. Uh, no, get ****ed kids. I think the last option I selected was "there is going to be big consequences from this meeting", or something worded like that.

Then I noticed that only six players were on actual contracts. Neither of which were the captain or the vice. So I cleaned house. I let over 50% of the team go right then and there. Then signed a bunch of players on frees who had been sitting and most weren't wanted by anyone. They were thankful to be playing. So then only 8 or so players opposed me and everyone else was neutral.

We then started winning games at the right time, as the friendlies were coming to a close. And then one player here and another there started to support me. We are now 11 games in and in first place in the division with 25 points at 8-1-2. My support is still poor (was extremely poor) but we have a great locker-room atmosphere and the players are happy. I have 5 players who support, 4 who oppose and everyone else is still currently neutral.

I've personally never turned around a locker room like this before. Because its rare to be so opposed at a level with amateur contracts where you can just fire everyone with no consequences of your own for doing so. And I'm extremely happy about it.
