Official changes to the match engine are out. It won't stop people from complaining, but hopefully it'll curb some people.

Remember if you opted in to the public beta to try this changes similar to this out early, you can opt back out and go back to the full game.

We’re pleased to announce we’ve released Update 20.2.4 which, alongside some performance optimisation, includes an updated match engine containing a number of tweaks, improvements and changes. As always, this update is save game compatible and the next time you log onto Steam it’ll automatically update. You can see the version number of Football Manager in the bottom left-hand corner of the main menu.

I was actually impressed with the changes that they made. I played the beta version for several hours last week andwent on quite a run with Arsenal until I had to go to Old Trafford, where Martial buried a clear cut 1v1 to win 1-0.

If anyone shelved the game because of the match engine, give it another try.

I didn't stop playing because of it, but its nice to know some of the bigger issues with it were fixed. I'll still probably wait for the "winter update" to come back. I've been enjoying playing other games with my time away from FM. Its been a long time since I've played non sports games this much.

Uncle Sam just released his Full USA Pyramid so I'll probably finally start a save and go with Phoenix Rising to start, as thats my favorite US squad.

Decided to just start unemployed and pick a team like that. Started with Professional Player (National) and a Continental C License and got a job with the Nashville SC Academy team. First order of business was creating my 3 tactics (main wing-play style, a highly intensive attacking style, and a super defensive into counter-attacking style) and signing goalkeeper and fitness coaches. Overall the squad looks decent and the club wants me to finish at least top-4 in the division.

First two games are against the main club and Inter Nashville FC Academy before starting the league against Inter Miami Academy.

How many hours has everyone played? I'm up to 860 hours so far.

Steam will say 2341 hours, but it's like 950-1000 of actual play time.

Only took me five years to go from Ligue 2 to European Football. Only 41 points behind PSG too!

I just discovered the "Vertical Scrolling" camera angle and it has changed my life.

I also enjoy the match engine a lot more since the update a month ago. Some problems here and there obviously but it's a lot better.

Is there anyway I could use a real-life manager? Ie Arteta managing Arsenal?

No. There is no way to control a real life manager from the database. What you would have to do is remove him from the game using the pre-game editor. Then make a manager as you normally would and just use his name. Then probably use the in-game editor to set the history and details to match. That would be the only way to "be" a real life manager in the game.

Yeah, started with Hannover after the update, it's been great so far. I've sold 3 players and got around 10 mil which I then spent to get some youngsters.
