Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
I almost fell off my bed when I saw Davies was injured when I loaded it up, then realised it was only for a week.....
Plus I was on holiday while browsing OS when I noticed that a message I got had me top 11 announced and I was like cool so I read that and one about Footballer of the Year going to Messi.
Then I just decided to start scrolling up and see if anything I needed to see had come in and I saw that apparently Celta (from my dynasty on here) were considering Bob Bradley as a coach if Eusebio didn't resign with them at the end of the season. I started laughing and I think I now I might keep going with this after the WC.
Just a random thing I thought I should share lol
EDIT: First 2 games ended with a 1 - 0 win over Canada in a friendly but assistant did the game
2 - 1 Win over Russia
Bystrov scored early for Russia, Dempsey scored on a PK in the 2nd half, Davies scored on a great cross by Donovan (which I get a message later saying Russia's head coach thought there was a foul in the build up of the play and it should not have counted). Russia had a lot of open chances but Howard was great on at least 3 1 v 1s.
I was pretty much hoping for a draw vs Russia and Paraguay and a win vs South Africa hopefully but this really raises my chances since Russia was favored over me
EDIT #2: Just beat Paraguay 2 - 0, Donovan got a nice shot in early for a goal and Altidore scored late to seal it, Howard is a life safer in this game, and DeMerit went out for the tournament with a gashed leg, need to find a replacement now
EDIT #3: US goes on to knockout stages with 3 wins. beat RSA in 4 - 2 slugfest, Donovan scored early with an Altidore cross, Altidore scored on a cross from Beasley, Pienaar scored on a cross, Beasley scored on a header on a corner, Pienaar scored again, and Altidore finished with a brilliant strike from long range.
I will post group results and the bracket when I get homeLast edited by Lecrae; 06-20-2010, 10:31 PM.COYBComment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
Teams listed as 1 and 2 from Group X, 3 and 4 eliminated.
Italy and Togo from Group A, Bosnia and Chile eliminated.
Denmark and Costa Rica from Group B, Holland and Nigeria eliminated.
Croatia and Argentina from Group C, Mexico and Saudi Arabia eliminated.
England and Slovakia from Group D, Ghana and South Korea eliminated.
Ecuador and Germany from Group E, France and North Korea eliminated.
Greece and Ivory Coast from Group F, Brazil (wtf) and Australia eliminated.
USA and Russia from Group G, South Africa and Paraguay eliminated.
Spain and Japan from Group H, Japan and Egypt eliminated.
Chile, Holland, Mexico, France, and Brazil are very surprising to see eliminated and Togo advances. USA plays Serbia next so it will be interesting, hopefully we don't have bad luck with Eastern European teams.
EDIT: Gibbs and Bradley are out for at least 2 weeks meaning 2 starters and a sub I have used with some success are out for the US.
EDIT #2: Boswell, Donovan, and Dempsey all had to come off due to injuries and we trailed most of the game but Beasley tied it up late, the game would go all the way to penalty kicks. Both keepers pretty much sucked at this point until Serbia finally won 7 - 6 on pk, 1 -1 was final score. Very disappointed in Davies and Spector, wish I did not have to go down to 10 men with all the guys injured but we held strong for the last 60 minutes or so of playing time. Togo's dream run ended as well, losing 5 - 2. Italy knocked out England in the next round. Only Spain and Italy remain as teams people would have thought would make it to the finals.
Slovakia and Serbia would both be knocked out in the semi finals leaving it to Spain to try and beat the defending champions. Spain would beat Italy 1 - 0 with a 86' minute goal by Torres while Slovakia beat Serbia 2 -1 for 3rd place. I doubt I will make another run at this unless someone else is not able to do it after a while.Last edited by Lecrae; 06-21-2010, 02:47 AM.COYBComment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
Queston 1, was the group stage as easy for you as it was for me?
Question 2, where in the world is Brazil (and I don't mean on a map :\)!!! I think whitesox rigged it so that Brazil cannot advance past group stages.COYBComment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
Here are my results (Maybe I'll post screens later, depends on if I have time):
USA 0-0 Russia
USA 3-1 Paraguay
USA 3-0 South Africa
With these results, I finish first in the group. Who finished first in group H? Serbia.
Spain 2-1 USA, I'm out in the round of 16.
Once again, sorry about the long holiday. This is the first time I've done something like this, so it is a bit of a learning process.Comment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
Like Brazil didn't even win a game on mine, and there were no outstanding injuries. Then again I did not think Slovakia and Serbia would be in the semifinals, Imma take another go I guess, I am really mad though I lost 5 starters in like a game and a half.COYBComment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
Finally have some time tonight to get into this. Downloading now. Will post results later in an edit.
Scheduled a friendly away against Denmark for the Saturday before the WC.
Russia 0-2
Paraguay 1-0 (goal in 88th)
South Africa 1-0 (goal in 84th)
Got through by the skin of my teeth in 2nd after that late goal against SA and a 0-0 draw between Russia and Paraguay (Russia won the group on 7 points).
That put me up against Spain. I actually scored first in the 47th on a fluke goal. Spain equalized on an unreal free kick by Fabergas in the 54th. I somehow held on and forced extra time. I had already used all my subs in the 97th when Beasley had to go off injured. Down to 10 men, I couldn't hold. Raul scored on a free kick from just outside the area in the 102nd. 1-2 final, and out in the Round of 16.
Note: N. Korea lost their matches 0-6, 0-6, and 0-7 for a smooth -19 goal difference.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 06-23-2010, 08:46 AM.Comment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
good luck, I am through with trying for a while, 2nd time around I tried a new formation and tactic and didn't even invite Jozy. I tied Russia 2-2, lost to Paraguay 1-0, beat South Africa 3-0. Paraguay tied Russia so USA advanced in the 2nd position behind South Africa. Then USA lost 1-0 to Spain in round of 16 and Spain would beat Brazil in the finals.COYBComment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
I've got a question for you guys.
Do you think the amount of leagues loaded is good? Would you continue your career after the challenge or just complete the challenge? Was everyone able to handle the amount of leagues?
When another one of these is created (by me or someone else) I think it's a good idea to have a general consensus on whether or not other leagues should be loaded.Comment

Re: The "I need a challenge" thread
I say no to adding any leagues except those in the country the club you are managing is in. It takes a while with all of these updates coming in from teams I have never heard of. And if it's a country like yours was then just add a random leagueCOYBComment
