When you download FM, do you get a copy of the rules/game guide?

What do you mean? There's no manual as far as I know, but you can consult rules screens in the game for league specific stuff.

I should have said manual. On the FM website they have it, but it doesn't look like you can save a pdf version. Example below.

        1. Introduction2. Getting Started
Why on the FM website, isn't the USA not listed as a country choice? If you download from there do you just choose UK for the USA?

I think that is a language choice, not a country choice, UK representing English, of course.

As for that manual, I've never even seen it before.

I thought the game came with a PDF manual...

It's somewhere in the files I swear. I know for sure it has been in the past.

Got the game a couple days ago, and it has been a nailbiting couple of days.

Anyways jsut wanted to introduce my self to you all as a fan of this great game.

I've tried a couple of runs with the Colorado Rapids and after about 8 or 9 grueling hours I find myself getting fired, lol, Thinking I should switch leagues.

Anyways add me, friend me, invite me to your league. I'll be an active participant and provide some competition to you all. Not that I'm great but I am competitive.

              Love this game.

Im a cpu vs cpu. I need a soccer game in my collection and been thinking about PES12.

Seen this game mention in the goty thread so it caught my attention.

Im not really into text base games but Ive read that u can watch games? How is the gameplay?

Is the iPhone version similar to the original?

Yes you can watch all of the games. Picture being a coach on a team and calling all the shots/moves for your team. If your a franchise/dynasty guy then this game is your calling. It is the deepest franchise mode in all video games.

Are there any difference between the handheld version and the computer?

I have FM11 Handheld for the PSP.

There are fewer leagues in the handheld version. I think you're limited to 10 leagues in the handheld version vs. as many as your computer can handle in the PC version. I usually just run the English leagues.

The handheld version is text-based for matches. No 2D dots or 3D dudes running around.

I myself prefer the PC version. You can watch full matches or just highlights in the PC version. As a fellow "sim gamer" this is right up my alley. I've been an FM player for years.
Once upon a time, I had a lovely signature. Then it died. The end.

Question, when you look under boardroom in the area that shows the number of coaches, physios, scouts, ect that you have and are advised to have, it shows first team coaches. When I search for staff, why is first team coach not an option?

How do you get first team coaches?

You offer them that as their role when offering the contract. Coaches are assigned to both senior and youth training, youth coaches to just the youth squad, and first team to just senior and reserve squads. You assign coaches to categories in the Training screen under the Coaches tab. If your club has the resources to have a bunch of coaches, you should be signing guys who specialize in one area and assign them to whichever category they have the highest star rating in.
