Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here
I lug around a 13" 2-in-1 laptop. One that folds into a tablet. The full version of FM16 includes the touch version (mobile version), but I don't use it. Its too slimmed down for me. I prefer the full version. You can do so much more with the regular/full version than you can in the touch version. But maybe give it a go, and see if you like it.

Yeah, I tried the mobile version once. Not for me. I'm not sure how much its improved since, but I seem to remember you could only do very few (maybe even 1) leagues at a time.Comment

I didn't realize the Mobile version isn't even the Touch version that comes with the full version of the game. Its slimmed down even more.

Thanks for the graphic link. Yes, the Touch version is more robust than Mobile, yet missing some features like team talks, press conferences, some training, and of course, the editor. Having never played FM before, I can't really miss those things.
I think the convenience of a tablet will win out, at least this time.Comment

Hello!, I am mostly a Fifa player but i did play football manager 16 for a touch and have enjoyed Dr.Benjy FM Salford Story...I didn't get that into FM16 mostly because of limited gaming time!, but would like to give it another go!
I have a few quick questions, when is FM17release date?, and is much expected to be upgraded year to year?Comment

When setting up a new game, and you're 'selecting leagues'....I'm not sure I understand the point of this. What if I were to play as Arsenal, and only selected England? Does that essentially mean that England is the only country that exists? I.e., there's no other leagues/countries/players to track data, scout, and sign?
I see it says you can add/remove leagues later. I'm all just a bit confused...Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

basically you can load a league or set it to view only, or just leave it unselected. When setting up a new game, and you're 'selecting leagues'....I'm not sure I understand the point of this. View-only, means you can see the league table and past winners, so you can see how teams there are doing. BUT, they will only load up the best players from that league, the rest of the players and staff there will be greyed-out players.
If you load the league, it will load all the players, staff and history, and the teams there will be available to manage.
If you add or remove a league later, it will make the change at the end of the season.
Be aware that the star system is sketchy at best to determine how fast your computer will run. Most half-decent systems can run at least 5 full league systems (top to bottom leagues) - just be aware that the further into the save you go (in years) the slower the game will start to run, as it has generated more data/history/created players etc. This is only really noticeable once you get quite far in (such as 10-15 years)
A good method i normally use, is to load all the top leagues in the world with their full league system, which is France, italy, Spain, England, Germany. Then depending on how fast your pc is, load up Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Switzerland etc where you see fit.Comment

I'm managing Peterborough in League 1, i'm doing reasonably well in the league, but i'm getting smashed in cup games...I might be rotating my squad too much, do you guys leave your starters in for cup games?Comment

Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here
the way i see it, you arent gonna win the fa cup or league cup, so dont worry about it too much.
in real life, lower league teams normally field a mostly first eleven players when they get a few rounds in, with some fringe players thrown in - otherwise, with early rounds they usually rotate players
johnstones paint trophy (or whatever its called now) is up to you. its a competition for league 1-league 2, so up to you if you want to try and win it or not.
as a rule, i usually rotate my team in cup competitions unless im a big club who is looking to win it, as its a good chance for fringe players to get some games, and rest your better playersComment

Re: Any FM-related questions? Ask them here
For Relegation Release Clauses, does do they count if I get promoted and then relegated back to the same league I was in when I offered the contract?
i.e., if I am in the Championship, offer a player a 3 year contract with a Relegation Release Clause, get promoted to the EPL, and then get relegated back down to the Championship the next year, does that clause go into effect?
Or is it only if you get relegated to the league below the one you're in when you offer the contract?University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

In my unfortunate experience it's just when you get relegated, not only that but it remains active as long as he's on that deal. For Relegation Release Clauses, does do they count if I get promoted and then relegated back to the same league I was in when I offered the contract?
