Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

I would really like Arsene to go. The chances of that happening are very slim, but one could only hope. I really feel that if he were to go, that Steve Bould could do a hell of a job in a caretaker role. He would get rid of the awful strategy called zonal marking, and he would definitely remind the boys the pride of playing for the Arsenal.

Arsene from what I heard (couldn't catch the match due to class), sat on the touchline and offered no advice. WTF. But in his eyes we are all clueless. Arsene knows best right?

I'm still pro Arsene. I don't think anyone else could lead us as far without spending money. I still refuse to believe that Arsene just wants to get worse year after year. I think if he was giving money he would spend it.

I think his "you will miss me when I'm gone" quote was a subtle hint to fans that just because he leaves doesn't mean the next manager will be able to splash the cash.

The longer we go without spending real money, the more clear it seems that it's not Arsene. He's working with it, and is not the type if guy to call out the owner or board in the media. So, instead he goes with it and continues to defend the club.

However, it does seem clear at this point that if he could, he would spend more.

That's the million dollar question. Does the club have money to spend on the team or is Arsene reluctant to spend it?

NOBODY can question the man's loyalty that's for sure. Something you can't say about the board.

Bayern Munich's defense has allowed only 7 goals in the Bundesliga and 7 goals in the Champions League for a total of 14 goals this season and the Bavarians have 14 clean sheets.
FC Hollywood face an Arsenal team that has trouble against good teams and lose to lesser teams like Bradford City. How do Mandzukic, Mueller, Ribery, Toni Kroos and Schweinsteiger match up with Arsenal's defense defense of Sczeny, Sagna, Mertesacker and Arteta?
Arsenal's inconsistent offense faces the most consistent defense in Europe. How can Podolski, Cazorla, Giroud Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain make a goal to draw much less win against Bayern Munich?

Didnt the board say that Wenger was given $70 million to spend? I believe they even said he was given $30 million to spend in the winter transfer market.

It's been rumored he has £70 million to spend this Summer.

It's not official, has not been said by the board, and no story ever has an actual source or quote. It's always just speculation.

Unless someone else comes in and spends tons right away, I don't think Arsene just doesn't want to spend money.

Even if he does leave, do you really think that anything will change? do you think that the folks above Wenger will start splashing money as soon as he leaves? I do not think so. People have to start looking directly above Arsene to see the real problem. Superstars have been replaced by only good players. This is not his fault.

I shudder to think where we'd be now if Arsene was not with the club, and they continued on with their current financial policies.

I don't see how it can be any worse at the moment. 8 years is a long time without any hardware for a team the size of arsenal. Things are going downhill fast and I know no one wants to see a liverpool type collapse here because thats where they are heading. I hoping that Kronke see's that he maxed out the value of the club and sells to Usmanov. Then again maybe not making the top 4 would actually be a good thing in the long run. With that said they are still going to finish 3rd and the cycle will continue.

You don't see how it could be worse, but in the same paragraph you mention Liverpool. So it could be worse.

We could've been playing in the Europa League the last few years on Thursdays, which doesn't exactly help you rest players for the league's weekend fixtures. And before anyone says perhaps we could win the Europa League, if we were in it several times in a row, we wouldn't have the same squad that we do now.

It could be worse. I want it to get better, but it could be much worse.

Why on earth would the owners (mainly kroenke), choose to stuff their pockets with cash instead of investing it into the team? It is really bizarre.

If in fact Wenger is being handcuffed by those above him, that is just a disgrace.

Well, if you can keep making money and compete in the Champions League each year because you have a manager who will get that job done, why not? I'm sure that is their thinking. If they can make money without spending money, then they're happy it seems.

Bit of worrying news is that Sagna is out for the Villa match and possibly longer with "pain" in his twice broken leg. Damnit.

Yup, you ain't getting the Podolski's and Carzola's without Champions League football for those prices.
