Tale of two halves. First half they looked great, 2nd half not so much.

I really wanted them to put their foot to Villa's throat and push down, going for the kill and getting that 3rd goal, but it seemed they were content to simply not concede, and that burned them when Villa scored and then almost equalized. Yes, we have the league's best defense so far, but against relegation candidates like Villa we should be going for the win instead of focusing our energies on not conceding.

I expect us to draw vs United this weekend. Mou probably won't want us to lose all 3 points so if we score early or are tied late (~70th minute +) we'll set up shop and park that bus.

Hopefully it will be more entertaining than your dour encounter back in August.

            QFT.

Waited all day to watch the game (was busy at work and couldn't catch it online) and was pumped after that first half. Usually watch what the talking heads have to say about the game at halftime (FFWD the commercials), but was liking what I was seeing in the first 45 that I blazed through the HT and proceeded to think, "what is going on"?, for the next 45.

Played like doo doo is very kind... Benteke was one header away from a horrible result for the Gooners.

Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***

Yeah that second half was not the greatest football I've seen from the team. But, 3 points is 3 points and we're back on top for now.

That was probably the poorest I've seen Ozil play. He was very sloppy and careless yesterday. His passes were either too soft or too hard and he was giving the ball away a lot. Aside from the one pass to Monreal which set up the Wilshere goal, he wasn't very good at all and I'm a huge fan of his

I thought having Giroud back was great as he was a threat all game. He too was sloppy with his passing, but he threatened close to goal. Wilshere was pretty solid and when things mattered, our back 4 stood strong.

I expect better this weekend, but I say it again - I'll take 3 points at the expense of occasional poor football over 1 point for "entertaining" style. I don't want to jinx us, but the squad is showing the steel and determination that had been missing from the club since the old guard of Vieira, Adams, Keown, Parlour, et al. left.

These Draxler rumors are really starting to pick up steam. That would be a fantastic signing, though I still think we need a defender as well, in case one of our three center backs go down.

Its a Wenger signing. Need a center forward, so we sign a winger. It was the same when we signed Arshavin in 2009-2010. Really, really needed a defender, so we signed him. Plus Draxler is hurt. No denying his talent, but this is a summer move IMHO. I wonder if Podolski may get moved to meet Bremen's valuation of Draxler. Ryo is for sure gone. Very disappointing he didn't develop

Hearing smoke around Lascelles at Nots Forest. Kinda like that move. He's young with quality, but doesn't threaten Vermalen directly for his spot at CB. Get Sagna resigned and the back four is set for the next two years

I dont know, Draxler price tag looks a bit too high for Wenger and the Arsenal board. Yeah they splashed it down on Ozil, but at least he was proven. In this case they want to convert Draxler eventually to a CF. I just don't think they are willing to spend that kind of money on a project.

The rumors for Ntep make more sense at this point, but I agree these are the summer type of signings.

Draxler's a very very good player, but like you guys, I think he'll join in the summer and not winter. His buy out clause is high, but he's got world class potential and I'm confident he'd do well in the Prem. I was reading that we're in for Vukinic but Juve want us to buy while Wenger wants to loan him. He'd be a great depth signing, but a loan one. I wouldn't shell out any cash on a 30-year-old at this point

We'll see how it all plays out, but I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't sign anyone at all. Not because Wenger's being cheap, but the players available wouldn't add much to the squad. Remember that Draxler, Costa et al are all cup tied for the UCL so that already eliminates A LOT of potential signings.

Preceptor, do you think we snag Ntep from Auxere?

I don't know. I haven't seen a lot of Ntep to offer an opinion. Will have to google some vids of him later.

Much better for us in the 2nd half. We could have scored 4-5 goals. Top of the table and a good win. Keep it going boys

Forgot we had a match today!

Just started reading about it at work. Seems like it's in the bag, and it's nice to see Podolski grab some goals when starting up front.

We put out a strong side, though. Which is nice to see. Going after the double!
