Something Ornstein said this morning that I found highly absurd was bringing up how it's believed Xhaka does what other midfielders at the club do not, such as shield the defense and that certain analytics shows he does things others do not.

Let Torreira actually sit deep, break up play, and do what he prefers doing, did at Sampdoria and does for Uruguay and then we'll talk about that bull**** some more.

Xhaka shields the defense my ***.

My hope, and it would not be surprising, is that like Spurs they want to change managers swiftly. Announce Emery is gone, and the next day announce the new manager and avoid any caretakers, etc.

Which is fine, I'd prefer that. Do the work behind the scenes, then make the move.

Hopefully at this point, they're doing more than confirming interest, but actually working out contractual details, etc.

Two names I’ve seen thrown out are Allegri and Arteta.

I don’t think Poch would come here.

Agreed—especially considering he can get a bigger/better job.

I'm all for Arteta. I think he has the demeanor we need (he apparently can be rather prickly and not afraid to ruffle feathers), he'd almost certainly come in with a clear identity he wants to have, and I think because of his inexperience he'd be given more time.

Mostly, it would seem like we're trying to build something and not maintain our weak grasp on our current stature.

The other question which remains to be seen:

How much are they going to have to pay City to get him out of his current deal?

              I'm in on Allegri/Arteta. I love Allegri a lot.

On the note of Xhaka, as we saw against Southampton, his biggest strength compared to Torreira and Guendouzi is his ability to pick out passes and move the ball. Both of them struggle with making good passes.

The Athletic’s team of the decade:

Only people left out you can make an argument for are Alex Song and Theo Walcott. Otherwise this is spot on.

Emery in his press conference today, regarding playing at home:

“Teams are coming here and playing fearless against us."

They sure are, and it's pathetic. I wonder how it got that way, Unai?

He really seems to know that his time is up, also saying something about "his future is today and tomorrow" or something along those lines.

We're now in this weird stage of things no longer being his fault. He's going to do what he's continuously been doing—the fault now lies at the feet of those who can make the change. As it has been said, Unai is going to Unai—we know what we're going to get with him at this point, and it's clear that it's not a good fit.

Oh what could have been if Arsenal got Klopp if they wouldn’t have let Wenger go sooner.

Arsene wins back-to-back FA Cups ending the trophy drought, leaves at the end of the 14/15 season, Klopp takes over instead of going to Liverpool in October of 2015.

In the alternate reality where it exists we still perhaps won nothing due to ownership, but we'd be in a much better place than we are now, surely.

Excited for ESR to be brought back into the first-team—as for Mavropanos...eh. I can't help but wonder if his future holds a few years away on loan.
