I love both deals. Lokonga has already shown he has potential, and I'm glad he's getting minutes over someone like Elneny. Ødegaard is a great deal. There's no way I thought we'd get him on a permanent, so I'm elated at that.
I love his ability with the ball, but he's so suspect defensively. Not just in the air, but also covering space. I agree, we did not need another CB, but Arteta clearly wanted to replace the ball playing ability of Luiz.
For the record, Arsenal fans are making the HG point because internally, several PL clubs have been, also. There's apparently a fear that further HG restrictions could come into play, although many also think it's just paranoia.
We already have a crap #3 keeper, and I can not stress this enough (no journalist who doesn't cover Arsenal for a living seems to understand this)—Leno is leaving. He doesn't want to stay, he doesn't want to even talk about a new deal. They're bringing in Ramsdale for the #1 spot, if not now, soon. Will it work? Who knows, but they didn't just spend that on a backup keeper who happens to be HG. He'll most likely retain most of his value, also, so that's a bonus that the club have been awful at keeping in mind.
To me, for once, Arsenal's transfer window makes sense for the most part. Outgoings are now desperately needed, but if Arsenal did what they've done in the past they'd be slated for spending big wages on players who will not retain value or are not hungry enough. They do what they've done and some (not saying all) people think they're not being ambitious enough.
For once, they're looking at more than this upcoming season, and as a supporter that's highly refreshing.
