Re: ***The Official Arsenal Gunners" Thread***
Something that I don't think has gotten near enough attention outside of supporters is how absurdly young our starting elevens have been. So far this season Arsenal have 9 out of the 10 youngest starting elevens, and ten of the youngest eleven. The top 9 youngest are all Arsenal, and Southampton are the tenth.
That is...kind of crazy when put in context with results.
Also one thing that hasn’t been discussed in here was AMNs performance in the midfield Sunday. It was very good and shows Arteta trusts him playing there.

I was fine with no European competition this season as I think more time on the training ground was needed, but it's really vital next season not only for income but also for much needed game time for the squad. Ideally, it's Europa League (Champions League is not realistic to me) so there's something truly to play for, compared to the Conference League.Comment

I gave him a quick shout. I thought he was great, and I hope he re-signs and continues to show he's a real option in the midfield.

I feel Europa is very reasonable indeed.

Champions League money would be insane, but there's no way we'll be consistent enough to land in the top four. But sixth...well, that's possible, at least, but will still be a fight.Comment

As Tim Stillman pointed out on Twitter, this match really showed Arsenal's age and inexperience. I can't agree enough with his point about Sambi and Tavares making mistakes is 100x better than watching Willian and Cedric not give a single **** out there.
Arsenal have the youngest squad in the Premier league this season—Liverpool are tied for the fourth oldest.
The kids are alright.Comment

What were your thoughts?
A tale of two halves for sure. Too slow in build up on the 1H, much better in the 2nd and 2 goals to show from it.
Two absolutely brilliant goals at that.

was yikes. Arsenal look like at most they are beating teams that they should which is good but it won't be enough for a top 4 finish which non of us expect. Just need to get more production out of that striker position and at this point Auba looks a shell of himself.Comment

I was frustrated to see Ødegaard not looking sharp, but you can't be surprised due to him being on the bench so damn much. Plus, he was always trying things, which I love to see. Without him, we're so toothless, as Lacazette is not going to create. He can link, but he's not finding the key pass.
And I agree, we're at least performing decent against the sides we should beat, and if we're going to finish in 5th–6th, that's vital.
Also, Tavares wasting possession by hitting shots from 30m out was absurd. He has lots of potential, but it's time for Tierney to get his spot back. One of my biggest issues with Arteta is he just rolls with things for too long that were forced.
Tavares came into the side due to Tierney's injury, but just because he had some good performances shouldn't mean it's not his spot entirely. Same thing with Lacazette. He came off the bench and had a good appearance, but then Arteta stuck with him for way too long while leaving Ødegaard sitting on the bench—absurd.Comment

Eddie wants to leave after turning down a contract extension. This is the same Eddie that turned down Palace this Summer because they wouldn't pay the absurd wage increase he was demanding.
Arsenal seem set to spend money on a striker in the Summer anyway, so, goodbye Eddie. I'll always think about you when a player scores from a few feet out.Comment

Why do you (all) reckon he doesn’t get more chances? Not exactly getting a high level of output in the goal department from our 2 aging strikers.
Just curious as to what is the flaw in his game/training that doesn’t allow for more opportunities?

It's definitely a big issue with a lack of any European football, as if we were playing on Thursdays, I think he'd be getting minutes each week.Comment

Auba out, Xhaka and Tierney in—goodness. Partey has often played best next to Xhaka, at least. I'm glad he's healthy, but I'm not excited that the master of 'progressive passes' (meaning passes that are technically forward, but do nothing, but he gets credited for being some kind of regista master) is back. But we'll need him in January, and I'd rather see him than Elneny.Comment
