Now leave FIFA and join the Arsenal executive team, sir.
It's a shame the song is 'One Arsene Wenger' because I will remember two. The Manager of Arsenal Arsene, whom I adore for his philosophy and his success, and the FIFA Monster Arsene, who will say anything for a dollar, it's unfortunate the two lay in such stark contrast.

Even knowing the FIFA suck-up in him is present during this, these photos did warm the cockles of my heart https://twitter.com/BukayoSaka87/sta...14240399380480

      Few thoughts:

Saliba is 21 and just had a month or so of only training without actually playing much football at all. He'll keep making mistakes, but he's generally more poised than not. Plus, I'd say he's still building a relationship with Ramsdale compared to Gabriel and White.

Zinchenko gives us a great option in terms of his ability to move inside, but holy **** he can be such a defensively liability especially when teams obviously focus down our left and try and put balls in behind Gabriel, or generally overload that side.

Ødegaard (who is only 24) is class and running the show right now.

Eddie is only 23, and for ****s sake, Martinelli and Saka are both only 21. ESR is back in training and only 22. There's always so much noise about teams needing to build with youth and this Arsenal squad is an absolute shining example of how to do it.

      Ages of tonight's starting eleven: 24, 26, 21, 25, 25, 24, 29, 30, 21, 23, 21.

The average of those is 24.45...that's bonkers.

        Saint-Maximin and Isak terrify me.

Saliba and Saka are both on 4 yellows.

Happy with the clean sheet, but that was the type of time wasting from Newcastle that will happen forever until you start adding 10-12 minutes of added time as we saw in the World Cup.

They knew they wouldn’t be punished with cards or added time, so there’s no reason to stop.

I wish the media creamed themselves over Brentford as they do over Newcastle.

I think that match showed how little depth there is for attacking options. Clearly Arteta feels Viera and Marquinhos aren’t ready.

I’m okay with Viera waiting in the wings. He’ll get a start on Saturday I’m sure.

Would’ve been great if we could’ve brought in ESR for this match late.

My other son, Miguel Azeez has had his loan at Ibiza ended, and is off to Wigan. Now at least it will be easier for me to watch him when I should be working.

Chelsea have done us a massive favor and chose to be fleeced by Shakhtar.

Mudryk would've been a fun signing, but not for the price being demanded due to other clubs inflating the market to ridiculous degrees.

It was over our valuation—good to not be idiots. There are reasons one club is in first right now and the other is in tenth, and an actual transfer strategy is part of that.

Happy with us not being played for fools. The stories saying the deal was ‘hijacked’ are hilarious. We were never getting into a bidding war.

                      Ha

If that’s your man and the #1 target identified by Edu/Arteta you’ve been chasing……. get the deal done. Even more so because he wanted desperately to join you all.

We BS’d on Tchouemeni 2 summers ago, Liverpool last year and then walks into Real Madrid and forced Casameiro out.

Are you confident that Arsenal has a Plan B?

He's too unproven for the money that was being thrown around—period. 'Get the deal done' has limitations. That fee is going to hang around his neck for the seven years Chelsea gave him a contract for.

I don't buy he desperately wanted to join—if he did, he wouldn't have jumped at Chelsea's offer—he would've agreed to only move to Arsenal. He was pushing for a move and was flirting with the club that was negotiating for him. This wasn't some boyhood dream nonsense.

I think Arsenal were preparing stupid money for this, but at least trying to structure it in a way that the add-ons wouldn't be met, or much later. This isn't some loss for Arsenal or a dastardly hijacked transfer. That's not the story—the story is Chelsea being run seemingly by an idiot.

I'd rather not have a backup plan at all rather than match Chelsea's offer, which includes whatever insane wages they'll pay him.

Edit: for context, the reason I think it's genuinely hilarious to believe or buy into the sensationalist reporting call this A HIJACKING is that Arsenal and Shakhtar never had a deal—ever. They could never agree to a total fee, or the structure. They agreed to personal terms with the player, but that happens about 99% of the time in modern transfers.

You don’t strike me as the social media type (tbh, can’t blame you, it’s the ruin of society) but he was literally begging for a move to you guys.

From a financial aspect, the #’s we agreed aren’t too far off from what y’all were willing to go. Who knows about wages. I’m 99.99% sure we will put him on higher wages so you absolutely have me there. I could care less about the price tag hanging over his head. He’s gonna have enough pressure already with us and the fee is gonna be stretched out over 7 years.

The story isn’t written without mentioning Arsenal couldn’t get the deal over the line despite months of chasing him. You’re not worried that you bottled Top 4 last year because you didn’t reinforce in January and Spurs did and you have a similar conundrum looming this year with MUCH larger stakes?

Away to Spurs tomorrow where you’ve won once in like 11 years

I'm going to need a drink after this. You ready?

Begging: Eh, he was publicly pushing for a move, so he was begging to go to the team at the top of the league who were known to be negotiating with his club, and also with him. End of the day, he wanted the league and London. Know who else Chelsea tried to sign after Arsenal agreed to terms with them? Gabriel Jesus, but he actually wanted Arsenal, not just a move to the biggest league like a young kid. I've seen the posts—it's a kid pushing for a move—that's it.

Financial: Yeah, the numbers were similar, which is why I'm glad it's not Arsenal doing the deal. I know this club, and even though KSE has put money in, they're not going to always do it, especially if deals don't work out.

Pressure: You know what I mean. That kid won't be given a chance to adapt or succeed due to his transfer fee. It's not about paying off the fee, it's about mentally if he can handle it.

The Story: Arsenal didn't get the deal over the line because they set a valuation and followed it. Know what other clubs do that in the league? Man City and Liverpool. They won't be held over a barrel, and if the price is too high, they're out. The issue in this instance is that Arsenal were dealing with a club who was hellbent on getting the most money possible, and wanted to drag another club in to do so.

January: The month isn't even halfway over, so it's too early to panic. Plus, I know this might be hard to believe, but I'd rather we still think about the future of the club. This isn't a MLB trade deadline where we should sell the farm (money) for the shot at a title. **** that—I'd rather see the club set up to compete for titles for years to come, and have the resources to do it.

Looming: I said it once and I'll say it again—even if we strengthen this month, I still don't think we can win the title. This group is too young and too unproven. I'm just enjoying watching the club be well run and competing.

Pressure: Meh, as long as we're top-four, only the psychos and Talksport DJs will be freaking out and calling for Edu's head.

In closing: I'm happy to see the club I support, after years of being a certified joke meme club, not be pushed around and not gain the reputation of being a club that you can milk extra millions out of for a gamble on a kid who has made less than 50 senior appearances.

Was I excited by the prospect at signing him? Yeah, when we were offering £40m or so. I know, it's not my money, blah blah, but everything I mentioned above covers that point.
