Oh absolutely, Portugal isn't the best of teams, but you know...Ronaldo.

the US have a good defense. double marking on ronaldo, and portugal is done.

you should only fear ghana. they are probably more confortable with high temperatures than you are. also, germany may be affected by the ewather too. their first game will be in Salvador, Bahia. and i should tell you, IT IS A DAMN HOT PLACE!

That's fine. I understand the temp thing...but it's still Germany. Germany is incredibly talented and incredibly well coached. To think the weather will stop them is, IMO, ludicrous.

And I don't fear Ghana. The worst that happens is that they beat us again, and knock us out of the world cup...again.

Not only did the US draw the toughest group, we also drew literally the worst possible travel schedule. Awesome.

Except for the fact that Portugal's far and away biggest strength is set pieces. USA's far and away biggest weaknesses...set pieces. You can double mark Ronaldo all you want on the wing, but unless they tackle him on set piece crosses into the box and don't concede a single free kick inside 30 yards he can destroy them on set pieces alone

@razorkaos, are you worried about Brazil? Because home teams often struggle, and Brazil will especially be under A LOT of pressure from the fans & media.

well, to be honest, in the last WC, i was not supporting brazil, cause we had a lot of "politic choices" when the players were chosen, even players clearly out of form (i mean, physically unable to perform, like Kaka, he was injured but CBF kept that hidden, and after the failure, people were blaming the player) were called to the team.

this time, i see a team like the 2002 team, these players are really focused, and now we have a real team rather than an individual talent. if the people here support the team as they did in the Confederations Cup, there will be no pressure. my only fear, is the local media. they create SO MUCH hype, and i think the team will be in a good shape, physically and mentally, if we can "repel" this problem.

Team USA historical records against group teams:

2-2 against Portugal
3-6 against Germany
0-2 against Ghana

We play Ghana first ( a must win in my opinion if we want to advance)
Portugal 2nd
Germany last - imagine if that game decides who advances, best case is we both won other two matches, so will be relaxed and fun game. But...... we know that we would never make it that easy.

Throw the kitchen sink at Ghana and try to win by at least 2 goals. Then, field 10 defenders against Portugal and Germany and just line up around the box.

1 win 2 draws +2 goal differential BOOM, USA goes through to the next round.

would you be surprised if i said that some guy on tv said EXACTLY the same thing minutes ago? he said "for me, will be germany and portugal. portugal is ronaldo only, and if the US can score big against Ghana, and go full defense against germany and Portugal, it will be easy for the americans."
