Either way that heat map is not what I expected to see from either Dempsey or Jones.

Do we have Brad Davis' heat map when he played LM in the diamond for comparison? I'm just genuinely curious.

    Brad Davis vs. Turkey:

But you have to keep in mind that Davis and Jones are two very different players.

Tactically, you can play them in the same position, which is what Klinsmann did, but you're going to get two very different outcomes/styles of play from either of them. In lieu of saying it word-for-word myself, check out Matthew Doyle's Armchair Analyst piece that I posted a couple posts back.

looks like on defense they played a 4-3-2-1 or a Christmas tree formation as some call it.
It's hard to really classify it based off one snapshot, unfortunately. For example, if I'm right, that snapshot came after a failed attack down our left side, with Nigeria then switching fields to attack down their left, which would explain both Dempsey and Bradley's positioning.

The easiest part for me would be when you watch it defensively, the four midfielders applied pressure/support in the same manner that you'd expect from the diamond. A 4-3-2-1 or a 4-2-3-1 would each have their own ways of applying defensive pressure and/or keeping shape.

Who do you want to win this year's WC? Besides USA of course. I am leaning towards Germany just because I have connections to that country over all other countries.

I'm half Uruguayan, so I root for them as well. Not quite as fiercely as the US because it is where I was born/live, but fierce enough.

Brazil. Took a Missions trip there my senior year. My heart breaks with everything else that is going on surrounding the games.

How bad is it really? Is the media portraying it accurately? Huge traffic jams, no buses, bathrooms not finished..

In terms of the stadiums, I'm sure there is some truth to it all. Just look at the pictures.

The protests, riots, corruption in the government, the favelas are all very real.

But I don't have much room to talk. I sit, watch, wonder and eventually do nothing. I'm still excited out of my skull and FIFA will still get my eyes and their sponsors will still get my money.

I don't think any european country is going to win it from just going by history. So I think Argentina is the favorite, but Chile is my dark horse pick to make a run to semis or even finals, I haven't looked at the brackets yet.

Brazil because I grabbed Neymar in career mode in FIFA 14 when I was starting out and had no clue about anything. The match today was crazy because you couldn't have scripted a worse first 20 or so minutes for Brazil. If all of that happened in a video game the "The AI cheats so BAD....." thread would be monumental.

Love it. And the deeper Brazil runs the better the soccer babe threads will be.

Also I love how playing FIFA has turned from an only when team USA plays fan to an actual soccer fan.
