I think we will be fine, but I do think Luiz has at least another year left of being very solid, he's not nearly as bad as he's made out to be most of the time.

Also, Rudi is almost certainly a starter. Will be between Zouma, Christensen and Tomori for that second spot, maybe Christensen since he's better on the ball than Zouma is.

Rudiger is hurt right now is he not? My thoughts were aligned with Zouma/Christiansen starting the year, and if they're balling out, it's hard to drop them.

I’ll miss him more emotionally because I genuinely love the guy but on the field I think we’ll be better defensively without him. We’ll just need Jorginho/Kante/Kova to do a better job at coming deep to pick the ball up.

Rudi’s an underrated passer as is Zouma but there isn’t a better CB on the world than Luiz with the ball.

We’ve all wanted to see the youth for a while so here’s our chance. Gotta prepare mentally for some growing pains this year.

          Yeah he's injured right now.

He's definitely a better passer than Zouma, will be interesting to see what happens when he comes back.

As KG said, this is the chance for all the youth (and also all the fringe players) to step up and perform.

Two big calls right off the bat for Lampard:

            Tammy/Bats/Giroud

            Mount/Barkley

I think I’d go Tammy and Barkley. I like Giroud more as a super sub when defenders, especially this early in the season might not be fully fit, to come on do the things he does well.

Barkley gets the nod for me based on being a slightly better defender but if Mason were to start I wouldn’t be upset. He was pretty good in preseason.

Excited to see Pulisic on the big stage right away. He would have been a good fit with Luiz and Jorginho Ronan extent with their long passes over the top.

I’d be happy with a point tbh.

Is Kante not fit? Surely that’s the only reason he wouldn’t start, right?

Naa he’s coming back from offseason knee surgery and only played a half in the preseason

                  You win some
                  You lose some
You take it on the chin every once in a while

A lot of sloppiness, disorganization, and things to be sorted but a lot of correctable mistakes from experienced players (Zouma, Azpi, Pedro) but most reasonable (there aren’t many tbh) fans know there be a lot of struggles this year.

Super cup doesn’t move the needle for me, even if it’s against Pool.

It will be interesting to see the sides tho, especially for us considering we have a decent Leicester side coming to the Bridge on Sunday.

Supercup is just a glorified UEFA friendly.

                          Unless we win it obviously.

I picked you to finish seventh, and I still stand by that due to the monstrous task Lampard has ahead of him and replacing Hazard is literally impossible. However, I really think this season could set you up for the next few years.

He'll be given time due to the ban, that seems certain. He, if all goes well enough, has a year to integrate the youth into the side and time to figure out who he wants out, and who else he needs to bring in.

As you said, reasonable fans will be looking at this season entirely different than everyone else. It's setting up the future, which is exciting. Plus, you're still getting some of that sweet CL money this year, even if you don't qualify for next year.

I'm happy where Arsenal are, but if we were forced into a "reset" of sorts a few years ago with a former player getting his shot as a manager, I would've been excited as it would be so different and a process/project to watch from the start.

Yeah we’ll be battling for 4th-7th depending on how things shake out with you guys Kreb, United, and either Wolves/Leicester/Everton.

Had we not gotten destroyed with injuries I think we’d be knocking on Spurs’ door but not having Cho, RLC, and Rudi from the jump plus a gimpy Kante (He didn’t look very fit yesterday) and Willian, although they should be both back fit within a few weeks, is going to hurt us.

Oh well, we needed a reboot but it just sucks that everyone else in our immediate tier decided to spend money, even freaking Spurs.
