Just simply not good enough. Played way too narrow of a game and really, they lack that killer instinct. They really need to upgrade so many areas this off-season if they plan on backing Ole. They just aren't a good team at all when they have possession. Weird year for everyone besides City but still. Their position in 2nd is less by earning it and more by it being just more strange for every other club as well. If they go into next season this way with this squad they are in trouble.

please please please someone just make the Maguire era end after this season? I just can't take this dude anymore. I don't care if you Phil Jones the dude, bribe the Greek Police to repoen the case, or just beg anyone to please take him with us paying. Just end this already. Addition by subtraction.

So we draw Spanish Granada for the next round of Europa. Pretty good draw I suppose. Mid table team that lets up a lot of goals. Again, I know that technically we are in a great spot league wise but I really do think this team needs to start winning something. It certainly isn’t the league and the FA cup still has some real good teams remaining even if we get past Leicester this weekend. That’s certainly no guarantee either on Sunday.

Strange that De Gea took off a month for the birth of their first child. Think that’s the rumor at least. It’s ok to me because I really think it’s time for Henderson to take over anyway but still. Should be a fun weekend

That first goal ultimately will be on Fred for his poor back pass but it’s more Maguires mistake. How do you pass it to Fred facing his own goal with 3 men around him one already being on top of him? Just clear it like a regular defender

Get ready for Manchester United to have a new look across its chest beginning with the 2020-21 season.

The Premier League giants announced a new principal shirt sponsorship with TeamViewer, a German-based software company. The club had been showing Chevrolet on the front of its shirts since 2014.

Butt leaves Man United: friction with Murtough and overlooked for promotion

Nicky Butt’s departure from Manchester United after nine years on staff came suddenly, but not without reason.
The appointment of John Murtough as football director and the way it was handled was a factor, The Athletic can reveal.
According to sources, Butt and Murtough were like chalk and cheese, coming at football from different perspectives. Butt’s vision is based on a glittering playing career, much of it with United and also England. Murtough’s knowledge comes from years as an administrator. Friction had built up in recent months as Murtough increased his influence at United and when the recent restructuring announcements arrived, Butt made his decision.
A bigger deal than will be talked about but I really liked Butt with the club. Was very good with the young players. Oh well, wish him well.

PS. For the biggest club in the world (to quote my tormentor Eddie W), we certainly aren't the biggest club in OS, as this thread shows. Richard Arnold gotta add OS to the social media metrics!

It's only one pre-season game, but what I saw looked good. Shape, patterns of play, team-pressing, quick transitions. We were definitely vulnerable (much like last year) once the press was beaten, but the players did well in recovering; I'm not too arsed about it since defensive cohesion takes time.

Zidane looked really good out there. I doubt he's ready for first-team duties, but perhaps he's ready for a loan away from the academy.

So the last three games have shown some real positives. There still is a lot to work on and I have no doubt we are in for some rough results but I’m seeing a plan now. That’s hugely positive and it looks like the players are buying in. Also, finally we have a manager that shows a bit of stones and sits MaGuire and Lindleof. My god just having them out of the squad makes a huge difference. Bad opponents or not.

Long way to go but it’s feeling pretty good just to have some positivity around the club.

I mentioned this when the Liverpool match was going on, but the rest of the squad almost seems...relieved...that Maguire isn't back there being a disaster and the captain at the same time. At least from what I saw. I haven't watched you guys since then.

I think that’s pretty spot on. There also are some reports that a few guys like Verane, Ronaldo, Bruno, and a few others had approached RR last season to beg for Maguire to be sat down. I sort of think that’s a bit strange to do but if it’s even remotely true then it really shows how little Harry is respected. The team clearly plays differently right now. There still are some issues that I have no doubt will be exposed when a club like City gets a hold of them but you can see what United are trying to do compared to other years.

I'm not gonna **** on Maguire because he played a big part in Ole's 3rd and 2nd place teams. However, with the style of football that we tried to play last year (and failed) and are doing now under Ten Hag, it's clear that he can't be that number one (or two) guy in defence. He's a great squad option, but he can't be that long-term considering his price tag. I honestly see him being moved on by next summer. The price isn't his fault, nor was being made captain, but it is what it is and he's definitely good enough to start for a different club.

I definitely see Lindelof staying if he doesn't mind being a rotational player considering his qualities (aerial duels aside).

I honestly don’t think Harry really played much of a positive role in any success United have had recently. He’s been an utter disappointment for most of his career in Manchester. The only shock to me is how long it’s taken to finally just drop him from the lineup. The fact he was captain for so long is mind boggling. He’s up there with Massimo Taibi and Alexis Sanchez with worst signings in the last 30 years at the club.
