If that's the way they're going to set up the pitch, I think it's stupid to have a MLS team playing there. The pitch was extremely narrow, and players were slipping almost every time they planted their foot in the grass that was "planted" over the infield.

Celtic lost 4-1 at home and 2-0 on the road to Legia Warsaw in their Champions League qualifier. Legia Warsaw played a player who was supposed to be on a suspension from a red card in last year's Europa League for 4 minutes at the end of the 2nd leg. After a review, UEFA handed Celtic a 3-0 road win in place of the 2-0 loss, so they're now through on away goals.

I understand having rules, but come on.

Celtic have won a Champions League reprieve after Uefa handed them a 3-0 second-leg victory over Legia Warsaw because the Polish club fielded an ineligible player

"Bereszynski was sent off against Apollon in the final match of Legia’s Europa League campaign last season, earning a three-match suspension. He missed both legs of Legia’s tie against St Patrick’s in the second qualifying round and also sat out the 4-1 first-leg victory over Celtic. However, it has emerged that Bereszynski had not been registered in Legia’s squad for the second qualifying round, and so the matches did not count towards his suspension."

                ****in' UEFA, man.

Yep, taken as a whole, there is zero common sense in this decision. Not surprising though.

Its not like this is some new rule that few of the clubs knew of. Celtic didn't do anything wrong but play like garbage. UEFA did nothing wrong but enforce the rules. Legia didn't follow the rules but what is UEFA supposed to do instead?

If the rules aren't upheld, why should any club hold players to yearly contracts. Messi could be a merc and charge any team per game to play. I mean who cares about the rules. Suarez gets banned, big deal, he can just play anyways.

My only problem with this is that if it was Barca or Bayern instead of Legia, Celtic would be going home.

But they followed the spirit of the rules by keeping him off the team for 3 matches. That's my problem with it. You can register 25 players. They didn't gain any advantage from forgetting to write his name down on a piece of paper for the prior round.

I recognize and realize why this is wrong. And I agree that it's wrong wholeheartedly.

That said, completely selfishly, I'd rather have Celtic around. They're usually kinda fun in the group stages.

But as I said, it's stupid that this is how they got through.

                            Not this year. They're terrible.

What in the hell is going on at Villa??? So supporters can't criticize the club on blogs and social media??? It's past time for those clowns to sell the team.

This ain't Celtic who drove Man Utd nuts in the group stages a few years back with Nakamura and Samaras in midfield... Rangers can't get back to the top flight fast enough to help at least make Scottish football better
