Emotional day yesterday was. Everyone in our house was in tears. My mum and dad both lost mates there and for the 96 to finally be exonerated is such a relief. Its hard not to feel an immense amount of sadness too, not only for the loss of life that day and in 1993, but for the parents and family who never saw their children and spouses deemed innocent and that it took 27 years of fighting for us to reach this day. It is monumental and the fight embodies our city, we never give up even when those with the power are doing their best to tie back our hands. Lest we forget that the government today is complicit in this massive, heinous crime as part of a government wide campaign to bury and isolate the city of Liverpool.
Justice is only half done. Exoneration is one step, the next step is to make sure the culpable; Duckenfield, McKenzie etc are punished for their crimes. The removal of knighthoods and esteemed titles from those who did their best to smear the names of the 96 for so many years with their complicity and lies. I hope the CPS has no mercy on them.
