Our secret agents have cost Chelsea 6 points this season. Excellent.

Re: The 2013-14 EPL Discussion Thread

I'm a huge Chelsea fan and didn't even know this thread existed!

I'm speechless as to what happened today against Sunderland. Give credit where credit is due, Sunderland played a good game and held Chelsea to one goal on what seemed to be over 25+ shot attempts to Sunderland's 4 or so.

As for the penalty, I personally don't think it was a foul. Altidore's left leg went into Azpilicueta's body as Azpilicueta was already on the ground. Altidore just fell afterwards. Azpilicueta should've stayed on his feet and tried to force Altidore to either finish or cross the ball in. Ref's were put into a tough spot and in those situations I can't blame them for making the call.

        I hope Liverpool losses tomorrow!

Sunderland really don't deserve THAT much credit, this was not like the palace game.

With Cech in goal honestly that first one wouldn't have happened.

Masterclass performance by Chelsea on how to NOT put the ball in the back of the net.

I saw this coming honestly, I think we will be able to go get a result at Anfield, we always show up for the big games. I'd rather play City and Liverpool 4 times than play Villa and Sunderland at this point.

Anyways, congrats to Liverpool, Stevie G definitely deserves at least one PL trophy.

Still going to be rooting for Norwich tomorrow, but Liverpool would have to bottle it hard not to win at this point.

^ Agreed. In these matches against the lower teams, there doesn't seem to be any urgency from Chelsea to put teams away. Against that Sunderland team, you should be pushing the pace, not gathering at the back every time you win the ball back. But that's Mourinho. His system works great against the top teams in the world, but it doesn't always adapt correctly against the lower competition.

Somewhat true but they did defend set pieces well for the most part. A few corner's from Willian were poor but some had chances if it weren't for Sunderland's clearances in the box.

What dumbfounds me is that we can score 6 against Arsenal and 4 against Tottenham but we struggle to score 1 against Sunderland today, 2 goals total against Swansea in 2 matches, etc. I could go on. Drives me insane.

As for the game next week against Liverpool I think Chelsea will play well but with Liverpool being home and Chelsea not having the confidence on the road like they do at home, I think it'll end up a draw.

Re: The 2013-14 EPL Discussion Thread

Honestly the lack of a consistent goalscoring striker is a big part of it, I firmly believe if we had a 25 goal striker we'd have run away with the league, but an often overlooked part is the rest of our offense honestly.

Aside from Hazard and Shirley, who rarely play at the same time, none of our other midfielders are a huge goal threat. Chelsea teams of the past have had guys like Anelka, Kalou, Malouda, Robben, younger Lampard. Our entire system is built around the striker obviously scoring , but also MULTIPLE midfielders having 10+ goal seasons (league goals).

Right now, Hazard and Shirley are the only ones that seem capable of that. Sarah and Oscar will likely be capable eventually as well though.

It would be nice to have a ST who can finish chances. Eto & Ba had some really good chances that they missed. That 1st goal was all on Schwarzer.

Rumor on the interwebz is that Moyes is out.

So he'll land at Spurs right?

I'll always remember the Season of Moyesface.

Not a Man United supporter, but I feel bad for Moyes. Just wrong place, wrong time, wrong manager. Hopefully he finds success elsewhere.
