I don't put much stock into that story.

I think they'll move the WC into cooler months rather than move it. Qatar is a financial monster right now and FIFA won't wanna lose that.

You think they would disrupt all leagues play?

As much as I didn't want them to have it, I wanna see all the clubs refuse to release their players halfway through a season, hopefully major teams boycotting the farce and FIFA getting a well needed rocket up the derrière.

I hope they move this to the US. It makes more sense now than in 94. Plus, the weather won't be a problem, nor the infrastructure, and football is more popular in the US now.

I'm predicting it will be moved to Australia.

I've seen Europeans ranting about the possibility of it being to the US and saying they want a 'football' WC rather than a 'soccer' WC, and they want it in Australia.

Last time I checked, it's called soccer in Australia, too.

                Re: 2022 World Cup

I'd rather it be played in Australia than America, but I mean no disrespect to Americans! One of the few things FIFA have got right is giving World Cups to countries that haven't had it before. If they carry on with that, I'd want Australia to get it.

And razor, an English World Cup has made sense since about the 80s. We've only held it once over here! Italy, Germany, Brazil, France and Mexico have held a World Cup twice. If you're looking for another one of the "big nations" to hold it again, that pretty much leaves England, Argentina and Spain.

If Qatar keeps the World Cup, it will have gone like this:

                94 North America
                98 Europe
                02 Asia
                06 Europe
                10 Africa
                14 South America
                18 Europe
                22 Asia

I'd be pretty happy with a 2026 US World Cup. North America is due one.

I have friends in Australia, they grew up calling it soccer, but recently it has been renamed to football. So technically you are wrong but generally speaking you are right. The people still consider it soccer because they have their own version of football that they play.

I wonder if this thread will still be around in 2022 lol. If it is......I better edit this post in 8 years from now.
