I assume it's just different culture, correct? It was always something I wanted more clarification on and why their are drums for North and South American leagues.

Question about European football fans
Bit of an odd question but since I love seeing fan chants and what not so much, I was wondering why Euro fans don't use drums and stuff like you see over in the America's. Then I watch Euro games and it's non existent.

Re: Question about European football fans
Not a European, but I highly prefer the atmosphere in Europe -- and England, specifically -- over other continents. There's just something about thousands of fans singing their hearts out to create that wonderful atmosphere over creating noise with the use of instruments.
And yes, I highly suspect the cultural aspect such as the use of the vuvuzela in South Africa plays a big role on how fans in certain countries deliver their support. -

And I mean, I hear chants constantly in American football as well, but I also hear drums. I guess it's just different cultures. Idk what it's like in places like Japan and Australia.Comment

Re: Question about European football fans
There are drums in the majority of stadiums these days, although in England they're not as widespread. Couple of differences is that continental Europe seem to really like tifo displays whilst here in England, they're seen as tacky in some way (I really don't know why). There is also all-seater stadiums over here compared to Germany for example, who have a lot of standing. That's the fallout from Hillsborough disaster.
I don't mind answering a few questions, but I'm only a Leeds fan and haven't seen any European football.Comment

Re: Question about European football fans
I have been to a few matches in Germany and the fans chant the entire time. Makes for some great atmosphere. What is crazy to me is the size of the flags they wave. If you get stuck sitting behind one I don't think you would be able to see the pitch.Comment
