Moura stepped right up and if he and Lamela keeps on like they did against Fulham, Son's absence will have a minimal impact.

Agreed. Lamela is what we missed last season. When Eriksen is having a bad game or we need a spark off the bench nobody stepped up. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

That is one of the reasons I wasn't worried about the lack of transfers. We have great talent on the bench that barely played last year due to various reasons (health, contracts, not in Pochs ideal fitness) so playing guys like Toby, Lamela, Moura, Winks, Rose and Wanyama is like a bunch of new signings.

Yeah, the lack of transfer activity hasn't bothered me at all for the reasons you summed up perfectly. Everyone else (read not Spurs-fans) seems to make a huge deal about it though.

I'm not an unrealistic or high maintenance fan though, as long as we play positive football, challenge top 4 and, most importantly, have a healthy budget, I am happy. The best part about being a Spurs-fan the last few years is not having to see the best players leave.

I definitely didn’t think you needed to spend huge money on a player. You don’t really have any bad fits or holes. Was a bit surprised absolutely no signings were made, not even a young guy. No signings was a bit of an anomaly, but not really a mistake.

Spurs have been in a bit of an odd position where the starting 11 is good to the point where their players are either not really "upgradeable" (Kane/Eriksen/Alli etc.), or they are but it would cost astronomical amounts of money to do so (Lloris/Wanyama/Davies etc.) and the upgrade would be relatively small.

Didn't Pochettino talk about this last year some time? Either he has to try to convince top players to come play a rotation role, or he has to try to convince his club to spend crazy money on players that are only slight upgrades.

Poch talked about it but only about the striker position I believe. Spurs have had terrible luck trying to find a backup for Kane and Poch was asked why it's so hard. His answer was that all of the proven strikers turn Spurs down because they know Kane is playing every game besides a few cup matches.

Carter-Vickers is going to Swansea on a loan. Good move for him.

Another tough group for Spurs. Barca and Inter will be difficult and PSV are not the easiest though we will be favored.

We should be able to get 2nd place in that group. Not everyone can be as lucky as Liverpool were last year when they basically faced two better than decent teams during their whole run, and obliterated one of them.

Well.. I didn't watch the match as I was incredibly busy... and seeing how it went, I'm glad I didn't watch it. Probably the only thing I miss about being a mid-table team... the low expectations.

We played terrible but still could have won if anyone was able to finish. Kane, Moura, Sanchez and Dele all had very good chances that they normally convert.

Eriksen was poor, again. Hopefully this break will be good for him as he's been off lately.

Son coming back will help, same with Lamela when he's healthy for games like this that are chippy and we need some energy.

Poch is also to blame big time. The formation wasn't bad. I actually liked how we went 3142 at times and it led to a lot of chances and possession. But Dembele can't play midfield alone as a defender. That is why Dier is so important to us and most fans underrate him. This was a great example why he's needed.

Only good note is this loss is a wake up call before Liverpool. Maybe this will kick the team into gear.

I love Dier. I don't get why he's suddenly everyone's favorite punch-bag. He's a water carrier with normal midfielder qualities. He's a tad smarter than Wanyama. Although I prefer Wanyama as his work rate is unreal.

EDIT: poor English... I have a bad fever and a mad coughing cold. Can't be arsed to construct proper sentences in a foreign language at the moment.

                                Re: Official Spurs Thread

Few positives but a lot of negatives today.

The good: Seeing Winks, Lamela, Son and Wanyama back in action.

Lamela created a chance for himself and made some good runs in the 20 minutes he was on. Him being healthy brings aggressive energy not many others in the squad have.

Winks looked good considering the circumstance (tough opponent and first game back) I see him replacing Dembele very soon.

Son and Wanyama didn't play a lot but just having them back is great.

Lucas created a few chances on his own but this also falls into the "bad" category. (more on that later)

The last good was Vertoghen and Alderweireld. They were put in terrible positions multiple times going one on one with great attackers and they stopped them.

The bad - Vorm. Just ****. Everyone saw that coming.

Dembele is done sadly. He used to never give it away and now back to back games he's handing the opposition chances.

Rose and Trips were bad today. Trips I can forgive because he's been great other wise but Rose looked bad against United and then again today.

The biggest issue though was the formation. Kane is at his best when playing alone on top. Adding Moura on top with him gives Moura chances but drops Kane too deep to be his usual self.
