If Roma had a really good striker they would be incredibly dangerous, that's really the only thing holding them back, but they won't make that jump without one.

Gervinho (yeah that Gervinho) is one of their forwards. You know the guy that had the epic miss against Reading in the League Cup. Their back line and midfield is legit. Too bad their team is about to get picked apart next summer."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Oh for sure
I just don't believe "dropping down a league" is the reason for his success at RomaComment

Definitely wasn't deployed in his best position at Arsenal. Also, did he really start all that much? I honestly don't remember. I bet a bunch of those appearances were as a sub.Comment

It also seems to be playstyle. He looks best in a team that plays more direct and can create lots of space very quickly. Arsenal's style probably just didn't fit him.Comment

Re: 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League Thread
I think a lot of it boils down to confidence and the fact that Serie A is slower tempo-wise. Don't get me wrong, he has world class pace but it's even more exaggerated in Serie A. He has improved though in his end product which was tbh, crap at Arsenal. He'd always find his way into the box but he either couldn't pick out that final pass or score enough to get the fans off his back. He is surrounded by some good passers at Roma (Totti, De Rossi, Strootman, Pjanic, Nangolen, etc...) and he seems to fit Rudi Garcia's style a lot better since he had him at Lille.
That Lille team that won the Ligue 1 title was awesome to watch. Hazard, Cabaye, Gervinho, Moussa Sow, Debuchy, Rami, Chedjou, Obraniak, etc...Comment

Team that struggles to make it through group stages with better odds at winning it than the team that was 2 minutes away from winning the last one.Comment
