Re: 2014-2015 UEFA Champions League Thread

It's just the natural cycle of things. The expectations on English teams are set unrealistically high because of the recent success the EPL has had putting teams in the later stages.

    04-05 Liverpool won
05-06 Arsenal lost in the final
06-07 Liveprool lost in the final
07-08 Man U beat Chelsea in the final (all 4 semi final teams were from England)
08-09 Man U lost in the final
10-11 Man U lost in the final
    11-12 Chelsea won

So 6 out of 7 years, England had at least one team in the final. So yeah, English clubs are down the past couple years compared to that, but it won't last forever.

Uhhh Bayern, the match started 10 minutes ago...

And how Dante is still on this team is baffling to me.

          Well, Pep loves him.

Bayern will probably score like 4 goals back in Munich.

David Luiz shouldn't even be out there.

The idea of Suarez finally being as aggressive and confident as he was in Liverpool for this Barcelona team is just plain scary. Like he didn't even think twice about curling that 2nd goal high into the top corner, when most players would have lightly tapped it past the keeper.

Porto is a very good team defensively, Bayern will be shooting for a 2-0. Not sure how people still think Porto is going to get crushed when they just throttled Bayern 3-1. Could have been 6 if not for Neuer and the woodwork.

I think every year people take these Portuguese teams for granted, but the resurgence of Quaresma...I didn't see that coming.

I don't think Porto has lost a game in the UCL this year. We'll see if Bayern's big guns are back (Ribery & Robben + Schweinsteiger, Alaba, etc...) for the return leg. If not, Pep's going to be feeling the pressure, especially with a certain manager floating around out there.

Yeah, Moyes has everyone looking over their shoulders.

As far as I'm aware, Robben won't be back and Alaba/Ribery are not guarantees
