Fine, Newcastle land somewhere between...18th and 20th.

I think Norwich stay up for a season or two before yoyoing their way back down. I hope they stay longer, though.

The only reason I wouldn't auto-pick Norwich to go right back down is because Brighton were absolutely abysmal last season and haven't really improved.

In the most Mike Ashley way possible, Newcastle have officially named former Sunderland manager Steve Bruce as their manager, and Sheffield Wednesday are not satisfied with the terms of Bruce's exit. Sheffield Wednesday are going to pursue legal action. Sky also reporting that Bruce was Newcastle's 11th-choice manager.

I’m caught in between unadulterated schadenfreude and feeling terrible for their fans.

Is Ashley the worst owner in any sport in the world?

Long-term owner? Yes. The owners that lied about finances and made clubs go insolvent might be worse overall though.

Ashley did keep them afloat when they were in serious trouble, but everything else he’s done since then seems to suggest that he actually hates the club he owns.

The Oystons and Bolton’s owners are definitely up there

That is true. At least Newcastle's bills get paid. So far...

Hull had/has some terrible ownership too IIRC

Villa almost got it with Xia, thankfully their board now is significantly better.

What I don't get is that Ashley said he'll step aside once Newcastle win something. At what point does he not look in the mirror and realize he is the problem?

I mean, Steve Bruce? That's the best you can do for a historically big team in one of the top leagues in the world?

                                Sheesh.
