The England Press will never let this loss to Iceland go by the wayside. I never understood why Hodgson was coaching this team, especially since he had Liverpool play some pretty terrible football during his tenure.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
Kane was trash all tournament but there were so many head scratching moments all match. Kyle walker was their best player all tournament and his forward runs were nowhere to be found.
Why start Sterling if you want width? All he wants to do is cut inside so he really provides no width at all.
McManaman was so adamant about Rooney having a place on this team moving forward but he's pedestrian in midfield. He slows the pace down and his first touch has become suspect. He takes 2-3 little touches to get the ball out of his feet. The commentators beat it to death but Rashdord really should have been introduced earlier. If they wanted creativity in the middle of the pitch they had Llalana and Barkley on the bench.

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
Some important players are banned for the Quarter-Final matches due to yellow cards:
N'Golo Kante & Adil Rami will miss France's game with Iceland
Thomas Vermaelen misses Belgium's match with Wales
Thiago Motta misses Italy's match with Germany
I wish they would scrap this rule. 2 yellow cards accumulated in the first 4 games should not warrant a ban. Red cards yes, but not 2 yellow cards. Any one on yellow cards at the conclusion of the Quarter-Finals have them wiped clean.Comment

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
I think cards should be revamped somehow too, especially if they're going to be dished out so easily. Same with hand ball, though I can't imagine that ever being changed. There is way too much incidental contact that ends up being stupidly penalized.Comment

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
It used to be that they'd wipe the cards after the group stage, but then people complained that you'd have players missing the final by picking up a yellow in the quarters and semis.
I don't mind it the way it is. It makes depth important and makes players think twice about mucking up the game with fouls.Comment

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
I wonder who England is going to bring in as manager. I think they have a lot of young talent that could shine under the right manager. They also need to find a captain that won't seize up with nerves as the game goes on like Rooney did in that 2nd half against Iceland.
Knowing England, they'll probably just hire some **** English manager and nothing changes.Comment

Re: Euro 2016 Discussion Thread
Of all the names they are throwing around at the moment are very underwhelming. Names like Southgate, Neville, Allardyce, Redknapp, Bruce, etc.
The FA said they wouldn't be opposed to hiring a foreign manager again. I wouldn't mind Guus Hiddink having a crack at it.Comment

2 yellows in consecutive games, I get it. But if you get a yellow in the opening game, play like 4 or 5 hours of clean soccer, and then pick up a yellow in the 4th game, it just seems harsh to have to miss that next game.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
