Just a disastrous season for Hazard. After getting to Real overweight he gets hurt only to come back and play pretty well, finally scoring his first goal in November. He then gets hurt again although not as serious but is scheduled to play vs City in the UCL this week only to break his shin and miss the rest of the year in the league match before.

After three Serie A games were postponed last week due to coronavirus, six of the 10 games scheduled for this weekend will be played behind closed doors.

Edit: They ended up cancelling five games rather than play behind closed doors. Sounds like a bit of a panic move but I'm no health care expert.

Glad I randomly turned on this Club America - Comunicaciones (Guatemala) CONCACAF CL match. What a ride. Now going straight to pens!

Also, Tigres was on the verge of a shocking exit, and their goalkeeper scored a header from a FK to win it.

        CONCACAF, catch the fever.

America kills the fun in the pens with 5 really nice ones...ah well.

There is a lot of background to that, and I read through it all yesterday. I'd like that time of my life back.

FS2 stopped showing the match with about 20 mins left.

In other news, Daniel Sturridge mutually terminated his contract with Trabzonspor, and we just found out why. He's been banned until the end of June going back to that gambling trouble he was in. He had given insider information about his upcoming transfers to a friend. Was punished, but the FA appealed saying it wasn't harsh enough. Now they've won.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him join MLS when the ban is done.

French Ligue 1 to play behind closed doors -- or with less than 1,000 fans -- until April 15. (How are they going to determine which 1,000 fans get to attend?)

Italian soccer association union and Minister of Sport wants to suspend the league after more than 100 people died on Saturday.

                What a mess.

So it appears that both of these have now come to fruition. Serie A will suspend until April 3rd. Ligue 1 will play behind closed doors until April 15th.

In addition La Liga will play behind closed doors for two weeks.

D’erby de Italia was a pretty surreal watch the other day. The biggest derby there in ~10 years behind closed doors. You could hear every kick, instructions from Sarri/Conte, players chatting, etc...

In the end, too much class from Juve. Sick goal from Dybala too.

Euro 2020 has been postponed by one year until 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic, says the Norwegian FA.

Uefa, European football's governing body, is holding an emergency video conference involving major stakeholders on Tuesday.

The Norwegian FA says it was decided that the tournament will now take place from 11 June to 11 July next year.

BBC Sport understands the decision will be signed off by Uefa later on Tuesday.

The tournament was due to take place from 12 June-12 July this year at 12 venues across Europe.

The postponement provides a chance for European leagues that have been suspended to now be completed.

                          More to follow.

The Copa America has been postponed until next year due to fears over the spread of the coronavirus.

The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) announced the news on Tuesday afternoon.

Sounds like the hope of the Bundesliga resuming the season even with no fans is just about toast.

BERLIN (AP) — Extending the ban on large gatherings in Germany to the end of August threatens soccer officials' aim of restarting the Bundesliga in May without spectators. Chancellor Angela Merkel’s announcement on Wednesday, maintaining gatherings of no more than two people in public to to try and contain the coronavirus, also ensures that the next Bundesliga season cannot begin as planned in August. After talks between Merkel and the 16 state governors about easing restrictions, Bavaria’s Markus Söder said the “Bundesliga wasn’t an issue,” meaning they have far bigger priorities than soccer. The Bundesliga, last played on March 11, was hoping to resume in May without spectators, but the number of people needed at venues — two teams, substitutes, coaches, medical staff, security to ensure fans stay away — means even games in almost empty stadiums look like a tall order. Complicating the issue for the German soccer league (DFL), is that each of the country’s 16 states can set their own conditions. It’s very likely they will differ, meaning some games could be allowed and others not. German soccer federation president Fritz Keller is expecting momentous fallout. “I don’t think the landscape in soccer will be the same after the corona crisis,” Keller said last week. “We’re going to miss a few (clubs), and I think that the longer it continues, the more bankruptcies we’re going to have in professional soccer.” Schalke and Paderborn in the Bundesliga are reportedly facing insolvency, while Kicker magazine says 13 clubs in the second division are also under existential threat if a delayed installment payment for television rights is not made to the DFL. The magazine reports that Sky, DAZN and ARD missed a payment of 304 million euros ($331 million) — the last of four installments for TV rights for the two divisions — to the league on April 10, but the broadcasters have agreed to pay on May 2. “We can manage another one or two months, but then we’re out of air,” Paderborn managing director Martin Przondziono told broadcaster Sport1. “If the TV money doesn’t come, it will be tight for us.” Schalke has made no secret of its financial problems caused by the pandemic despite a sponsorship arrangement with Russian energy giant Gazprom reportedly worth 30 million euros per season. Schalke communications director Alexander Jobst last month asked holders of boxes in the stadium to waive partial repayment for the club’s last home games. “It’s about existence!” Jobst wrote in an email on March 17. Schalke finance director Peter Peters warned club fans this week that its situation was precarious. “We’re trying to reduce costs, have reduced employees’ working hours and agreed wage cuts with the players,” Peters said on Facebook. “But of course everything depends on when we can take in income and play football again.” The clubs are to meet again on April 23 to discuss how they can end the season as planned by June 30. As of Thursday, Germany had nearly 135,000 registered cases of COVID-19, with 3,804 deaths attributed to the disease, according to Johns Hopkins University. ___ More AP soccer: https://apnews.com/Soccer and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports ___ Ciarán Fahey on Twitter: https://twitter.com/cfaheyAP
