Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
I always wonder how much more Zlatan could do if he didn't insist on doing things in the flashiest way possible, or the hardest way. Kick the ball as it comes lower to the ground? No, must execute a roundhouse kick*. Pass to a teammate standing in front of an empty net? No, must back heel it himself wide of the goal**. Stay easily onside as you and a teammate run at the keeper so your easy goal counts? Nah, get so excited for a goal that you stay clearly in front of the defender**.
Just imagine how much even better he'd be if he...well, tried to not be 'Zlatan' all the time. I know, impossible.
*Happened last week against Inter.
**Happened in the last ten minutes against Roma.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
Welp, Barcagate blew up today. Bartomeu and 3 others were arrested today. For those unfamiliar:
Goal has everything you need to know about 'Barcagate', which involves former members of the Barcelona board being arrested
"Bartomeu, along with three others - Chief Executive Officer of the club, Oscar Grau, former adviser to the presidency Jaume Masferrer, and head legal counsel Roman Gomez Ponti - were arrested as part of a police investigation into the matter.
The investigation first began following a complaint made by a Barcelona fan group, amid speculation that the Liga side paid I3 ventures for work related to social media monitoring. Some of the work included painting a more positive image of Bartomeu while also seeking to disparage the reputation of several players - including Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique and Xavi."
The case goes back to February 2020.Comment

I think Zlatan is the same, he's always trying to do something silly because that's what makes him happy when he's playing.Comment

Re: The All Other Leagues/Competitions Discussion Thread
What a bizzaro thing to get arrested for. You kind of expect with a raid of Barcelona's office that the police were looking for tax evasion, diverting funds for personal use, signing underage players, etc. Not "paying for work related to social media monitoring." Sounds so boring.
This is the legal issue:
“According to the report by SER, the police are involved because the investigation potentially includes the criminal misdemeanour of improper management - in this case, paying an inflated price for I3 Venture's services (allegedly up to six times higher than the typical market rate).
Additionally, the police are also allegedly considering the crime of corruption involving several figures.”
Just another cherry on top of the clown sundae over there.Comment

It sure looks like Juventus long reign of nine consecutive Serie A titles is finally coming to an end. They were upset today by Benevento, of all teams, 1-0.
Ten points behind Inter Milan.Comment
